This is further to my letter dated 2-8-2010 directing you to cancel the health policy issued
as per the recommendation of SCB. In this connection I would like to state that an executive
from SCB by name Pranesh Shetty from PUNE SCB spoke to me that they are proposing to issue health Policy against my SCB Credit card No.4622-7153-5604-2336 as I am a SCB Customer. I informed him that I am a heart patient from the year 2004 and I have undergone Bye Pass surgery during march 2004 and I am aged 67 and hence I may not be eligible to get a Policy.
But he replied that SCB card which I am holding was issued in the year 1998.But I had developed the
Heart problem in the Year 2004 and hence I need not worry. He further stated that there is no
waiting period of One year for SCB customers. SCB Customers can avail of the facility from the
date of issue of the policy. He also committed that only the copy of the Discharge certificate
will be sufficient to settle the claim and no other documents are necessary. I accepted for issue
of the policy based on his statement. I received the policy around 27-7-10. The policy document
stated that One month waiting period is compulsory to avail claim and also heart patients are not
eligible for claim and also many documents apart from discharge certificate are necessary to settle
the claim. As the clauses incorporated in the policy were different from that of the information
given by SCB executive I decided to seek for cancellation of the Policy and wrote a letter dated
2-8-2010. As per the Policy document cancellation charge is only 10%. I thought the matter ended.
But Mr. Pranesh shetty, SCB executive who disclosed his identity as manager informed me that I must continue with the Policy failing which Penalty to the extent of Rs.5000/ will be levied. I told
him that the main reason for my seeking cancellation is that Information given by him over telephone
does not match with the conditions set out in the Policy document. But he stated that I need not worry
about the written conditions as the same are not applicable to SCB Customers. But I am given to
understand that conditions governing the policy documents are applicable to all the customers.
Under the above circumstances, I request you to order for cancellation of the above policy without any cancellation charges as I was forced to accept the policy by giving wrong information by SCB Executive
