    Angry ICICI Bank Credit Card Fraud

    Dated : 27th Feb 2010

    I am reporting the details of an ICICI Bank Credit Card fraud sent to me, which was never requested by me.

    • An ICICI Bank Credit Card – Platinum card – was delivered to me in Jul 2009, which I have never requested for.

    • I was not holding a valid ICICI Bank credit card at that time. My earlier card had already expired in Nov 2008, which I had got cancelled in July 2006 and never used it from March 2006 onwards.

    • There was a fraud already done with the old card and that is why I cancelled the card.

    • The bank issued the new card without even checking whether there was an application for the same or not.

    • I reported the issue of fraud to ICICI Bank on 31st Jul 2009.

    • I followed up with the Bank since 31st Jul 2009 and on 19th October 2009, the Bank informs that they have settled the dispute in favour of the bank, without providing me any details. They maintained that I have shared the details of the card to a third party – which I deny and I have not done anything like that.

    • I again took up the matter with the Bank pointing out that this was a case of unsolicited credit card issued to me.

    • The Bank then came up with the new story in Jan 2010, that I had asked for card and they have proof of the same. This was told to me on sometime in Jan 2010 and I asked for the details which was available with a hope that I can find the mismatch in the information. But the Bank did not provide any details. I do not have faith in what the Bank says as they never give any complete and correct details.

    • On 5th Feb 2010 the bank once again informed me that the issue has been settled in favour of the bank and they alleged that I have disclosed the details to a third party. I have not asked for the card and I will never ask for an ICICI Bank Credit Card.

    • When an expired card is re issued, the Bank needs activate it after due verification. In this case, the Bank straight away issued an active card. This is a serious lapse in the security system.

    • The letter sent to me along with the card states that my current card is active, the card sent is an additional one. How did the bank decide that I have an active card?

    • The earlier card which I had, had the expiry date of November 2008. I have not requested for renewal of this. I had cancelled this in July 2006 itself. Then how did the bank issue an active card to me and what is the number of this card. I do not know to whom this card has been sent to. It is quite possible, the renewal is also done unknown to my knowledge. I would not want to renew any credit card and use it.

    • Since I was subjected to fraud with ICICI Bank credit card – at which time, the fraudster had stolen my personal information from ICICI Bank, changed my address to another place, got add on card delivered and used up the credit limit of Rs.1.3 lakhs. The persons from ICICI Bank dealing with the dispute at that time were able to understand the circumstances and filed a police case and the culprit was arrested! He had committed multiple frauds of similar nature with ICICI Credit Card.

    • The above incident shows that the personal data is never safe with the Bank. Fraudsters can easily lay their had on it. Now, this fraud is also committed in the same manner. The person got my old details – old mobile number (this was a company given mobile, when I left that company this was returned and I did not have a mobile for some time after I left that job. And since I was not planning to continue with ICICI Bank Credit card, I did not feel it necessary to inform them of this, as my residence number is already given and it same even now.

    • The fraudster has changed the email id to LOVELYSHILPA2009@YAHOO.IN, which is shown in the statements from Aug 2009 onwards. I do not use such email id. I have been using my email as ramachandran_ts@hotmail.com for so many years. I have enclosed copy of the credit card statement which shows the email id LOVELYSHILPA2009@YAHOO.IN.

    • Who changed informed that the email of mine is LOVELYSHILPA2009@YAHOO.IN and how it was changed without my knowledge? The bank has not even considered this.

    • There is a customer id shown in the statement. I do not have any intimation of the customer id associated with my card.

    • The fraudster has made all online transactions. How did the bank allow so many transactions of more than Rs. 80,000/- and odd with CVV number and number of such transactions are around 56? I have attached copy of a statement sent by ICICI Bank. I have seen other systems, where not more than 10 transactions are allowed without IPIN. This is a security lapse on the part of the bank.

    • It should have been possible for the bank to trace the online transactions as well as the email id and find the source of the fraudster. But the bank decided to take a short cut in unilaterally deciding the dispute in their favour and did not invest their time in it.

    Please help me to come out of this distress .

    Hello, One Ms. Phalguni contacted from ICICI Bank and asked for the credit card number and Service Request Number on 3/3/10. This has been sent in a mail to anita.motwani@icicibank.com as told by her. So far, there is no reply nor confirmation of the receipt of the mail.

    Would like to know what action is being taken on the complaint.

    Mr Ramachandran,
    My sympathies... I think from your experience, you know it pretty well how sincere ICICI bank is in resolving such issues... You should contact your rbi ombudsman and setup a meeting with icici officials in the presence of rbi officials. Since unsolicited cards is a serious offence, you might get some help through this channel. But these guys are really cunning so please take all the documented evidence when you do so... Hope you find some resolution... I am fighting a similar battle (similar to your first battle) and completely understand your frustration.

    I will again repeat, do not waste your time with ICICI bank since they are insincere and cheats!

    Today i received call from 04430516000,
    Ask me following question

    Have change your Mobile number and send request to bank ???

    have you change your mail ID ???

    Have purchased after 25th April ???

    when you have last used your card ???

    She told that some body requested too change my Mobile number and Mail ID

    then see told me shall i block your card

    i told YES you block it

    i ask her what is happened ??

    then she told me ,she will get back me in half an hour that time was 13.55

    but after that call has not come till time (17.07)

    i have tried several time but no reply from this number

    i think some body tempered with my card

    what action you have taken ?????

    Fraud and Threat By ICICI Bank

    My name is Shahnawaz Ansari i am writing this post in the wake of fraud being garnered by ICICI Bank on several occasions with my father and since then I have started handling and dealing with all his transactions since he cannot keep a track of everything because he has lot more things to do than just running after some morons. About 10 Months back my father's card got blocked and when he called ICICI bank they said that since he has not paid his minimum due thats why the card got blocked..In that case my asked that customer care agent as to how much is the total outstanding on his account the Representative informed that total was about Rs.2730,my father without taking any risk went ahead and deposited Rs.3000 and later on he again called back ICICI since he wanted to unblock the card but representative informed him that they have received Rs.3000 but they cannot unblock the card he has to apply for it afresh.

    Then my father left the idea of applying for fresh credit card and after 10 months and so no statements been sent to us nothing not even a single statement a guy appears from nowhere and says that he needs to speak to my father as he is due Rs.5000 I asked him for any statement and the reason why we never received any statement all this while they said that since the card was blocked we don't send statement and the guy was only stressing on settlement I told him why settlement for Rs.2000why should we get a black spot on our credit history..I told him that give us the statement and we will pay entire amount of Rs.5000 but since they don't have anything to show they said that for entire years statement will cost us Rs.1000 extra I said why all this while when we were using the card we were getting statements but now Rs.1000. I told him we won't pay anything without statement and told him to give us the statement. And then the guy left and after that we started receiving calls for settlement for Rs.1000 now I said no we will pay everything ..after few calls the guy started threatening me and abusing me and started calling my father a defaulter ,cant digest this fact that my father is a defaulter when he can wear a watch costing Rs.27000 for a small bill of Rs.5000 he becomes defaulter. Then after few threatening calls his supervisor called in again for the same Rs.1000 settlement which I cannot agree to. I asked him to give us the statement he said and I quote "Sir i will get a statement made but it will not show on which balance the interest is charged but it will only show that interest is charged I asked him has he gone mad I asked him then how come people get to know what they have spent and where they have spent and what they are paying for? "

    You know same was the case a year before an ICICI officer called and said that there is a free health insurance is been on offering for free for a year and then later on they started deducting Rs.2000 from my father's salary account. Then I again have to intermediate and get this thing straightened up but by then my father end up already paying Rs.12000.

    But this time around if I'll get a call and threating over the phone I will be lodging an FIR against ICICI Bank for threatening us and lodge a complain for defamation and that call I am expecting it very soon and this time around I will make sure I make ICICI's life a living hell that I promise I'll drag them to court and media and then they will realize playing with common people is not an easy way out.

    Hi

    I am Shweta Gupta. I am bringing to notice an ICICI Bank Credit Card fraud. I have been receiving abusive calls from a number with the person on the call saying that she is from ICICI bank and an ICICI Credit Card No. 4629 XXXX XXXX XXXX with an outstanding amount of Rs. 2.39 Lakhs, being issued in my name, though I have NEVER applied nor received any Credit Card from ICICI Bank either in past or at present.The person has been continuously calling me on my mobile and I had been getting a no. of calls of harassment from them on the landline of my office because of which I have lost my job. My parents have visited Mumbai to help me to sort this matter out, and we have incurred huge expenses to stay at Mumbai.

    I made a complaint in customer care for this issue for which they are not ready to provide me any details. I had few communications via mail with customer care but later on they have filtered all my mails. The ICICI Customer care said that they have registered a complaint for the same and they will be investigating the matter and will intimate me latest by 29th May 2011. A letter of complaint dated 16th April 2011 mentioning all the details sought by customer care has already been sent by me to their Mahape Branch.

    I have already lodged a complaint FIR for the same I have visited Banking Ombudsmen, RBI Office, Worli on 20th April 2011 and as per their advice I have send a letter to Deputy General Manager RCGS - ICICI Bank. Still I continued to get calls of harassment from ICICI regarding the recovery of Credit Card outstanding which I NEVER applied nor possessed. As per the instructions of RBI Ombudsmen officer I have even written them that if they wont take immediate action on the same, the matter will be escalated to Banking Ombudsmen RBI.

    I further got calls from an ICICI officer Mr. Deepak asking me to meet so that he could provide me all the information I had asked from ICICI but when I asked him to meet at Times of India office, Fort he denied to meet in front of media making an excuse that the office is far from his place so he can't come and thereby he never called me back. ICICI Customer care is also unable to provide me any details on the disputed Credit Card. I had asked ICICI Bank to provide me the scanned copies of all the documents on the basis of which they are saying that the Credit Card belongs to me but customer care has not taken any steps for the same and have not send me any information on the Credit Card.

    On 30th May 2011, I received a letter of statement from ICICI Bank mentioning that they are done with their investigation and they have confirmed that the Credit Card belongs to me and I should make the payments as early as possible. From their statement even I came to know that the ICICI customer care officer has registered a wrong complaint that I am not authorizing certain transactions on Credit Card though the complaint I made them was that the Credit Card was not at all mine and I have never applied nor have I received it, still why was I getting the calls of harassment from ICICI. The bank is not even ready to provide me any details on the kind of investigation they have done.

    Just to bring to notice that I never had any Bank Account nor any Credit Card with ICICI Bank either in past or at present. I never did any sort of transaction with ICICI Bank directly or indirectly.

    If the Credit Card belonged to me why haven't I ever received any statement or SMS from ICICI Bank for the purchases done. Why the Bank is not ready to provide me the receipt of the Credit Card delivery.

    ICICI Bank is held responsible for all costs and expenses (Material and Non-Material), I have incurred.

    Looking forward towards your immediate guidance

    Please help me to come out of this distress.

    I am sripriya Medisetty i was using icici titanium credit card about year back i issued a cheque to the bankto clear my outstanding my payment shedule is very prompot but this time they wantedly deposited the cheque after the due date eventhough i have given the cehque four days in advanance every month there execcutives are calling me i am saying the problem but they are not resovling now they are saying you have 20,000 out standing which has to be cleared. i asked them to give the statement , they are not sending me any statement they are saying there are only intreast charges and late payment fee which amounts to 20,000 which i have to pay and they said they dont want to settle the issue as i have taken a home loan with them and my documents are lying with them so they are blackmailing me, please let me know what should i do know. they are clearly telling we will go on adding intreast and late payment fee which may even amount to one lakh, please provide me a solution

    ICICI Credit Card Fraud

    I am Gireesh and I have received a telephone call saying that they are from ICICI BANK, & I have to pay Rs.33,000+ to ICICI Bank, for using Credit card somewhere in 2006. I am an NRI and past 20 years I never used any credit card other than my Debit Card of my account Bank with Federal Bank. The officer says that, there was a card issued in my name and I paid only 2-3 installments. I NEVER APPLIED FOR CREDIT CARD FROM ICICI AND I NEVER RECEIVED ANY CARD. The telephone call came from Delhi and now I am in Kabul. I don't know how they got my number. Anyhow, while talking I requested them to send me the statement (if I used the card) and send the payment details. But they said that can not be provided as my card is blocked in 2008 and no information is available. How ? It means if someone call from somewhere and I have to make the payment without any document of proof ? Then I requested my Credit Card number / date of issue / date of expiry. Those information also not providing. And threatening, if I am not paying the amount, my name will be in the defaulters list and I will not be entertain by any Bank in India and no loan facilities will be supported by any banks. I do not understand these kind of deals/ frauds. Why innocents are punishing like this and our Government has no rule to stop such things ? According to me, I have opened an account with ICICI Bank Greater Kailash Brach, New Delhi through our employer long back but fortunately / or unfortunately, I never deposit even Rs.1.00 in that account and is not operational. That was before 2000. Past 11 years I am in Afghanistan and I never applied for a Credit Card from ICICI and I never received. So how they received my previous employer details, my current number, my e-amil id etc? You may read above also, there are many client / innocent's are having same problem.

    Then the called officer said, immediately we can sort out this issue over phone and is said he can give me a discount from Rs.33,000 to Rs.18236. Wonderful. Also, my question, they have my correct house address, telephone number and email id. If ICICI say I didn't pay their installments, why all these years they never sent a statement in my house address, or any SMS or any email to inform me these issues. There are 100's of such cases is going in this country and why should I pay this amount to ICICI. I never applied and I never receive any card. May be like in many others company, ICICI issued the card in my name, some one received and some one used and we are cheating. Who knows the fact?

    I am submitting this information in front of the Consumer Court is for an advance information. As I am absolutely not aware about his. My address with ICICI Bank was my rented house in Faridabad. WHEN I REQUEST THE OFFICER TO SENT A LETTER IN THAT CASE TO MY HOUSE ADDRESS WITH YOU THEY SAYS, THEY CAN NOT SENT COURIER or letter, you just simply deposit this amount in any ICICI BRANCH in India. IS THIS THE RULE ? IN OUR COUNTRY THERE IS NO RULE FOR ANYTHING? OR MAFIA's LIKE ICICI, whatever they say, we have to obey ?

    Also the officer said, he will mail me immediately the details by email, but even after my repeated request, no one send any statement for any kind of action. The phone call came from +91-8860087792.

    Past 20 years I am an NRI, and I never go for such involvements and is my request to the Consumer Court to take immediate action or send me a mail personally to my id gireesh.kumar70@gmail.com.

    Just to bring to notice that I never had any Bank Account nor any Credit Card with ICICI Bank either in past or at present. I never did any sort of transaction with ICICI Bank directly or indirectly.
