Default HSBC Credit Card Late Payment Charges

    Hi,

I had dropped the cheque for my Credit Card payment 0n 08/09/2009 and my due date was 11/09/2009. As per the Bank guidelines it was within the time frame of 3 working days and there was no holiday/weekend in between. When I enquired them on 10/09/2009 and 11/09/2009 about the cheque clearing status I was told that they don't have any information about that. I even enquired whether they had received the cheque or not but didn't got a proper reply. They didn't even told me when they had sent the cheque for clearance. When I checked with my bank about the clearing status on 11/09/2009 I was told that they didn't received any cheque for clearance. Finally the cheque got cleared on 14/09/2009 but HSBC had levied late payment charges + Financial charges for my next statement. Although I had settled the payments for the current statement and got my card cancelled I just want to know what action can I take against the bank.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Mohit Raj

    Dear Mr. Raj,

To sort out such kind of Banking complaints, you will have to send a written complaint to the Head Office of the concerned Bank and wait for the response for near 15 to 20 days. If the Bank fails to provide you any help in that time frame then you can send your written complaint to the RBIs Banking Ombudsman division.

It is a proper way as written above that you can send your written complaint to RBI's Ombudsman.
But It is also True, which I have been experiencing for the last 3 months that HSBC Bank do not bothered to reply to Banking Ombudsman.
