This is in regards with the inefficiency caused with Axis bank with issuance of locker.
We were in need of a bank locker and thus we inquired various banks for the same. Axis bank officials assured us in the month of February 2012, that we will be given a locker in the month of April 2012. Also we were assured that we just need to have a savings bank account with Axis bank with a min balance of Rs 5000/- to get a locker. We were also told that if we go for an investment plan with the bank, we will be given priority among the waiting list for bank locker, but having an investment with the bank was not a criterion to get a locker. In April 2012 we were told that the bank is still waiting for the vendor to supply the locker and that we will get it in June 2012. We were also told that we don’t need to call up or visit the bank to enquire for locker and the bank officials will themselves call us when the lockers are there. But yesterday 14th July 2012, when I went to bank to enquire for locker, I was told that having an investment with the bank is a necessary criterion to get a bank locker and that the bank will not provide us with a locker unless we go for an investment with the bank. When we asked them why was this not communicated to us at the time of opening the account. The answer was “We thought we would communicate that when we get lockers form the vendor”.
If we would have been communicated the criteria of investment, we would have reconsidered other banks that were providing us the locker and would most probably have obtained a locker in some other bank till now. After 6 months of waiting time we are don’t have a locker and now we would again need to wait for a similar duration to get a locker in some other bank.
It is extreme unprofessionalism and cheating on part of Axis Bank. The customers are made to wait for a long time and then bullied.
We expected some level of transparency from a nationalized bank.
