This is a discussion on Yatra.com charging more on cancellation of flights within the Online Shopping forums, part of the Internet Services category; I have booked an e-ticket from Yatra.com from Delhi to Bhubaneshwar for Rs. 3984 on 28-Oct-2011 for Jetairways flight no. ...
I have booked an e-ticket from Yatra.com from Delhi to Bhubaneshwar for Rs. 3984 on 28-Oct-2011 for Jetairways flight no. 9W-2287.
On 29-Oct-2011, I booked another ticket for the same flight and same date for my wife for Rs. 3484, this time directly from jetairways.com website.
On 9-Nov-2011, I had to cancel both these tickets. Jet Airways didn't charged me a single penny for this cancellation.
Yatra.com mentioned it clearly that their cancellation charges are Rs. 250, which was pretty fine but they also levied an airline cancellation charge of Rs. 750, which I was not able to understand.
It is very hard to believe that Airline charges more to the Agents as compared to normal travelers.
On posting this complaint on their forum they replied that "We would like to inform you that the airline cancellation charges are different from booking to booking so that is the reason that we deducted Rs 350 as airline charge and Rs250 Yatra charge in your booking.you can confirm the same from airline also."
On this I again informed them that they have charged me Rs. 750 as airline cancellation fee not Rs. 350 (this was actually the base fare). Here they acknowledged their mistake and refunded me back the Rs. 400.
The point I am trying to make here that because of not having any knowledge about the airline cancellation fee most of us do not even care about paying Rs. 750 (or more) to these online agents and they are easily fooling us, inflating their revenues and going for IPOs
I think RTI Act should be applicable to these private companies also where they disclose what they are actually doing. Though the money involved is not that significant but as a citizen, I would surely like to raise this issue to the higher authority.

Yatra.com
We have booked a ticket from Bombay to Bangalore( Kingfisher Airlines) thru Yatra. com. For personal reason we cancelled the ticket 2 days before the departure, by doing this Yatra.com have charged us Rs 300.00 as yatra cancellation charges,Rs 950 airline cancellation charges and the booking charges Rs 800.00.
We can understand the first two charges, why yatra is charging Rs 800.00 as booking charges, it is very shocking to know at the last moment, nowhere it is mentioned in the terms......
This is completely cheating.
Please consider my concern and take the company to task.
I'm going to fight for this.
Regards
Sharan
