    Default Big Bazaar Pricing.

On 18th of May 2010, my mother visited Big Bazaar Retail for general household shopping. She found an international product 'BRAWNY TISSUE ROLL'. The MRP as per the importer was Rupees 112/-. While the retail price set by big bazaar was Rupees 195/-. As she bought 2 rolls, they charged Rupees 390/- for the same. She didn't noticed it at that moment and came home. When we tally the bill at home, we found this product to be of different price. I called up the Big Bazaar store from where it was bought. Initially when I called, the manager was busy chatting to some one and thus asked the receptionist (i.e. the person picked the phone call) asked the manager to come on call as it was a complaint query, the manager asked the receptionist to disconnect the call and then avoid. But as the receptionist was already on the I immediately replied that I have heard the manager to be rude. Then he informed this to the receptionist and thus the manager was forced to come on call. Then after some debate over the price difference, the manager said that the product is under 1+1 scheme and due to some error in the system, it was charged double and they are ready to refund. We refused the refund so as to make it sure if its their gimmicks or there was actually and error. So after a few days, I visited the same store again, and found the same price on the product. And then when he generated the bill, I denied paying additional charge for it, and moved out. This proves that they are least bothered in rectifying the error.

Now I thought to put this point to the consumer court and thus I request you to take the most appropriate steps for the same.

    Points I am putting forward:
    1) Price difference on the MRP itself.
    2) If it was in scheme, then why the error is not rectified further.
    3) Is Big Bazaar doing the same with every international product?
    4) How to trust Big Bazaar for even domestic products?

Would be glad to get assistance for the same and help each and every citizen of India from such a fake pricing system by Big Bazaar.

    Thanks,
    Aviral Mediratta

    Hi,

I went to BIG BAZAAR, Ambala Cantt and found that the MRP of there products was quite higher for a number of items. The schemes they offered just bought the MRP close to the actual Prices only. Thus there are only fooling the customers rather than actually providing the schemes. Here is examples of few items vs the actual MRP
    1) Ezee bottle of 1 ltr was marked at a MRP of Rs200 under 2 +1 scheme, where as actual MRP of same bottle in the market is Rs 145
    2) A Lehar Namkeen was marked as Rs65 was compared to market MRP of Rs 65

The list could be lot more since I left the store after seeing this.

    Thanks,

    Sanjeev
