Let me detail what has been happening, my reliance number is 9311260202:

1. November 18 I get a call from Reliance agent Ms Khushi (011-32227854/51) asking me if I want to switch from CDMA prepaid to CDMA postpaid. She promises me that at a rental of Rs 199, I will get Reliance to Reliance calls free, unlimited, Rs 150 worth of calls to other networks free, and beyond that I will be charged 1 paisa per second for calling.
she also tells me that Rs 500 will be charged from me initially for the conversion, which is fully adjustable against the coming bills.

2. On 22nd November, your executive Mr Harishanker (Ph 9212843944) comes and collects Rs 500 from me and gives me a receipt for the same. I ask him how long the conversion will take and he says it will take 2-3 days.

3. On 23rd Nov I get a call from Reilance (Ph 8595165402) to verify my address and details.

4. After that I wait for over a week but my account does not get converted. I file a complaint email and finally my account is converted to postpaid on November 29th. I receive message saying Rs 250 has been credit in my account. I inquire from your executive Mr Manish why only Rs 250 has been credited and he tells me that Rs 250 is security deposit and the remaining Rs 250 will be adjusted. Even though I was promised that the entire Rs 500 will be adjusted I dont make an issue about it.

5. I receive my bill, and to my horror I see that

  • I have been charged 1 paisa/second for Reliance to Reliance calls, even though I was promised it would be free
  • No deposit money has been adjusted against my account.
I nevertheless paid my first bill of Rs 130 before the due date.

6. Meanwhile I find some trouble with my Reliance-LG handset and I decide I will convert my CDMA connection to GSM postpaid. on December 18 I visited the Lajpat Nagar Reliance store to enquire about the procedure. I ask them whether my deposit will be carried over to the GSM connection. They look into my account details and inform me that only Rs 250 security deposit is credited to my account. The remaining Rs 250 is just not available in the account!!

7. By now I am very angry and I decide that till my deposit issue is not sorted out I will not use my Reliance SIM. I file a complaint online and I am informed that the issue will be sorted out in 4-5 days. On December 27 I receive a call from Reliance executive Mr Amit (Ph: 9711144001) . He told me that my issue had been sorted and that the following steps will be taken by reliance
  • My reliance to reliance calls from the previous two bills will be adjusted and the amount will be refunded to be.
  • My Rs 250, which according to him had been wrongly credited to the miscellaneous account, will be given back to me in my account and will be adjusted against my bills.
  • If I wanted, I had the option of converting to GSM postpaid and for that Rs 125 will be charged, which he said he will deduct from my Rs 250. In effect he means that Rs 125 will be credited to my account.
  • If i convert to GSM postpaid, all other charges will remain same and my R-R calls will be free for two months. All my money will eb carried over from CDMA to GSM and my number will remain the same.
8. On December 28, Mr Harishanker once again comes and hands over a GSM postpaid SIM (SIM number- 89910-51110-00023-0042) to me and collects Passport photocopy and one photograph from me. On December 29, I receive a call from Reliance to verify my address and details, and the executive tells me that my account will be converted to GSM and my GSM SIM card will be activated in 2-3 days.

9. It has now been 4 full working days and 6 days otherwise, but my GSM SIM is not activated. My reliance account still shows only Rs 250 credit amount, and there is no mention of the remaining money. Neither Ms Khushi, nor Mr Amit or Mr Harishanker are available on the phone.

10. I am now stuck with two sim cards - one gsm postpaid and one cdma postpaid, and neither of them are working!!

Is there anything that you, or anyone at Reliance can do to sort out my issues? I want
  • That my reliance to reliance calls be made free like was promised to me by Ms Khushi and Mr Amit
  • My GSM SIM should be activated immediately.
  • All my money that is sue to be should either be refunded or be credited to my mobile account and adjusted against subsequent bills.
  • My wrongful charges for R-R calls over the month of November-Jan should be refunded or adjusted!
Please clarify what the official position on this is at the earliest. I am very sorry to say this but my next step is going to be a complaint with the District Consumer Court.
