Dear Sir/Madam,
I would like to bring to your kind notice the harassment I have faced with my Sony Ericsson Phone (Model - W580i), and the immense difficulties faced at the Sony Service Centre at Rippon Street, Kolkata.
I had purchased the abovesaid phone on July 2008, which has 1 year warranty.
I had faced difficulties perviously too, but highlighting the problems i am facing right now.
Recently (June 2009) I noticed that there were series of lines on the display screen of my Sony Ericsson (Model - W580i) Phone and thereafter it used to get blank.
I went to the Sony Service Centre at Rippon Street, Kolkata to report about the issue being faced by me.
The customer care representative said the problem arose due to liquid damage. (Further to bring to your notice, I could personally provide you four incidents of the same problem which arose in this phone within a year of purchase. Two of my colleagues had the same problem and two customers at the service centre were facing an identical issue. Thus is this a genuine problem of this phone or really a liquid damage?)
Continuing further, the customer representative stated that the phone needs to be inspected before providing any solution so that they could know what the exact issue was and further they could notify me the cost which shall be incurred if I were to get the phone repaired, but there will be no inspection charges, since my phone was under warranty period.
Thus i submitted my phone on 10th June 2009, and was asked to call the centre on 12th June 2009 to know the details about the issue. I was not provided with a temporary phone.
Since their systems was not working, they provided me with a job sheet manually, without any case ID.
On 12th June I called the service centre, but they still could not check the phone and asked me to call on Monday (15th June) to know the status.
But they called me on Saturday (13th June), and was told due to liquid damage, the software needs to be upgraded, the display needs to be changed, and the flex needs to be changed. The total cost estimation would be around Rs. 2,300. I wanted to know the technical faults my mobile was having, for which i had to talk to the engineer. But i was told to come on next working day to talk to the engineer. On Tuesday (16th June), i went to the service centre, i was told the engineer cannot meet in person, because it is not allowed, thus i could talk over the phone to know the technical details. Furthermore, i asked if i approved for getting my phone repaired at the said cost, how much time do they require? The reply which i got was for 2-3 days, as the parts are present with them. When i asked them for a commitment in written, they refused and gave various reasons for not being able to do so but said that they shall do it at the earliest. Furthermore if required to approve, I could do so via the phone.
On Wednesday(17th June) morning i again called the service centre. On providing the last five digits of my IMEI no. (to identify the case), i was initially told that my phone was under observation and they shall notify me within 2 days. I had to explain them that i have got all the details of the problem in my phone, and i needed to talk to the engineer to know the technical faults and then approve if required.
They apologized for the misunderstanding, and transferred the phone to the engineer. On talking to the engineer, she also repeated the same stuff told by the customer care, not furnishing me with the technical details. Well i approved the cost and asked the engineer to continue further with the repairing. Again i asked her till when would the repairing be done. She intially said within two days, i.e. by Friday(19th June), but could not provide any commitment on when could the phone be handed over to me.
I again called the service centre today (19th June), to know the status of my phone. Initailly agin after identifying my case through the IMEI no. i was told that my phone was under observation and I should call on Tuesday (23th June). On again clarifying their misunderstanding(that i know all the details), the concerned person asked me whether i have approved of the cost and ready to have my phone repaired. Furthermore when i asked for the case ID, they were dumbfounded and said it has still not be generated.
They had taken my contact no. so that they could call me again.
Sir kindly help me to resolve the issue at the earliest. I am without a phone for more than 10 days, and still no sign of me getting back my phone.

I have purchased Sony ericcson mobile in last December.Now some defect has come in it.I have went for Sony ericcson customer care(Sec 18 Atta Noida UP) to get it fixed.They told me due to moisture defects has came in it.We will resolve it in a week.but When i have gone there they are saying while software updation some more defects has come and now they are asking me 6000 RS.Please look in to the matter

Hi, In my W580i mobile set, I have same problem.
Just after buying this I got 3 types of problem one by one, firstly ph is getting autometic switch off, when i went to service center they have just re install mobile software , then after that suddenly some lines same in my screen and again i went to service center , now i am facing the problem , on expand the mobile screen is not comming ,
I am getting mad, is there any basic problem in this costly phone? why sony is not giving sufficient service ??? Its really unfortunate to facing this kind of problem so that we can't use at all after paying that much of amount.

At first I was amazed to see a person (no idea whether he is a staff or not) is using my cell sitting in the front office by inserting another battery and tying it with a rubber band. When I wanted to see the set, he started deleting the photos taken by him. When I enquired he
said me that the staff have right to use the customer’s set. When I inspected my set, I was amazed to see a spot on the LCD which was not intimated to me,

I purchased Sony Ericsson phone Model G900 (IMEI 35388602-557325-9) through M/s Spice Mobiles & More, SPICE RETAIL LTD. 227, Diamond Harbour Road, Behala, Kolkata-700034, India for INR 13000.00 vide Bill no. 755 dated 06.12.2009.
Since 31.05.2010 the touch panel of the phone started malfunctioning. I showed the same to the Retail outlet M/s Spice, but they referred to Sony Ericsson Service center. At your service center at 02 Rippon Street, Kolkata I was told that the PDA (touch screen) has gone faulty and since it is not in stock currently, I will have to wait for a week for the spare PDA.
Since 01.06.2010 till yesterday, I am following up with your Service center but there is no response. The retail outlet M/s Spice too treated me in the most rudely manner and washed their hands off. When I protested they said that it is the problem of Sony Ericsson and not theirs. I am shocked that within 6 months of investing INR 13000 on a phone which of a make as reputed as Sony Ericsson, now I am unsuccessfully running from pillar to post to get this rectified.
You are requested to kindly intervene and get my phone troubleshot.

i have SE- c903 , buy in 24 may 2010 with 1 year warrenty , nw i have problem with this mobile. the keypad is not working well, so i submited at sony ericsson service center at rippon street, they said that it will be repair within 2 day, but 1 month is passed and it is not repair yet, they said we can't able to repair this phone ,we have no sparts of this phone

This is a case of Service Delay, you can drag Sony to the Consumer Forum, but before that you need to send a send a written notice to the CMD of SONY via registered post, mention all the details in it and ask them for the proper solution with in the mentioned time in the notice, wait for their response and revert us back.
Note: Keep all the copy of Complaint, Notice, Job sheet and the registered post slip, this may help you if you need to knock the consumer forum.
