Reliance Infocomm, one of India's leading private sector telecom services providers, Thursday announced the launch of international roaming facility for its mobile phone users.

To begin with, the company has launched international roaming services in a tie-up with top operators in the US, Israel, China, New Zealand and Indonesia, said a Reliance Infocomm statement.

The company said it had signed up with 12 operators in 11 countries across three continents that accounted for 90 percent of the global CDMA (code division multiple access) footprint.

Other countries where Reliance Infocomm plans to launch international roaming are Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Australia, Hong Kong, Thailand and Canada, said the statement.

Reliance Infocomm has already signed pacts with operators like China Unicon in China, Pelephone Cellular Communications of Israel, US-based Sprint PCS, Mobile-8 of Indonesia and Telecom Mobile in New Zealand.

"While tariff will differ from country to country, our rates are structured to be highly competitive," said Inder Bajaj, head of post-paid business of Reliance Infocomm.

"Going forward, we intend to launch more products that will cater to the needs of international travellers like high-speed data services and bring in synergies to existing products," he said.

Reliance Infocomm, an Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Enterprises group company, has a subscriber base of over 12 million.
