Benq Mobile, the German wireless communication devices company, is aiming to capture three percent of the mobile handset market in India by 2007.
"We are looking at three percent share of the mobile handset market in India by December 2007," Benq India's managing director Robert Dung told reporters here Tuesday after unveiling a slew of sleek 3G-enabled Benq-Siemens branded handsets.
Benq Mobile, part of the Germany-based Benq Corporation, will source its products from its manufacturing facilities in Germany, Taiwan and China. The company's other manufacturing facilities are located in Denmark, Brazil, Mexico and Poland.
The company has no immediate plans to set up a manufacturing base in India where it has been functioning for the past five years, Dung said.
"We are studying the opportunities in the country and have no immediate plans to set up a manufacturing base here," he said.
Benq Corporation, which recently acquired the Siemens mobile division, has manufactured the technology friendly 3G handsets with the help of Siemens engineers.
Benq Corporation, which clocked a turnover of $13 billion in 2005, is aiming at $20 billion business this year.
