    Default Beware of Hutch

Today early morning I received an SMS from Hutch saying they have disabled my
Caller Line Identification service WITHOUT ANY PRIOR NOTICE / INTIMATION IN
    WRITING.

I called their cust. service on 22222 and spoke to one Jack.
He informed me that it is due to me not resubmitting documents.
When I told him that I have given the documents over 3 years ago at the Vashi
Orange Shop in Sec-17, he said THERE IS NO ORANGE SHOP IN SEC -17. His system
did not tell him that there was an orange shop in vashi sec - 17 and his current
hutch shop in vashi at the BSEL tower is only a few months old!!!

I spoke to another person called Brian who refused to transfer the call to any
of the decision makers. I am still without my CLI and when I asked him what
would happen next if I don't resubmit my documents, he said they would
    disconnect my phone.

Is this the way to treat customers?
This is nothing but mental harrasment.

I know it will take me few minutes to gather photocopy of my documents & another
    1/2 hour to submit them.
But I agree with this group that it is time consumers told HUTCH to stop fooling
    around.

Admin, what should be my further course of action?

    Rgds,

Call Centre Executives are helpless as they are not really aware of
the remedies available to the consumer/customer.

Next time dont call up customer service.

Find out the office number of the Regional manager in your area, call
him and tell him if he does not do anything about it you shall have
him arrested for attempt to " blackmail " " extort " money from you
    and or your account.

You will get red carpet treatment.

Don't hesitate. law is with you.

In Mumbai thousands of subscribers are facing this threat/problem from
    Hutch, Reliance, Airtel.

Arbitary and sudden disconnection of prepaid and post paid
connections. Not even a sms or sufficient notice.

Documents are required for re submission due to pressure from Mumbai
Police Dept and maybe ATS to check unauthorised sale of mobile
    connections to wrong people.

But courtesy demands that sufficient notice/prior sms be sent.

Those facing sudden disconnection can complain in writing to TRAI
authorities with cc to the network she/he uses.

    Wake up consumer.

I do not have hutch connection but can visualise the agony hutch customers are
going through. Why only hutch is doing this? There are several court cases
against Hutch in haryana for false identity, verification etc. which led to many
prepaid connections given to many people having criminal background and maybe
top terrorist in India found to have hutch connection which were easily
available. To gain market share in major markets hutch must have given
connections without following TRAI norms. Now chickens have come home to roost.
Under pressure from police hutch is on verification drive.

Atleast in my wifes case, they sent the message then disabled CLIP. In my case,
they disabled first then sent a message the next day. Shoot first - talk later
    policy.

When I called up the helpdesk, they transferred me to the documents department.
That was busy for over 20 minutes. In the meantime, the on-hold was released by
mistake and I could hear some other conversations from irate customers. These
conversations are not fit to be published here.

This is what I plan to do:
    1. Get the latest set of documents ready
    2. Put a note on top of it, saying "I am submitting these documents not because
they were 'requested', but to stop the harassment"
    3. Keep a xerox of the same before submitting the documents.

This way, when they wake up next time, I have documented evidence!

Let me know your thoughts on this.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Dear All

Do not judge Hutch for this harassment. Which in fact is not a harassment. I
heard even Reliance is doing the same. In one way it is good to keep in
check unlawful people like terrorist & underworld thugs using prepaid phones
So if you are required to submit document again do it and keep the security
of the country upto date or change to billing It will save you that
    harassment.

I have an Airtel connection in Kerala. I had asked for change of address. First
they said that you cannot change address through call centre or website till you
complete 3 months. So I waited for a couple of days and when I had completed the
stipulated period I called up again and asked for change of address. The
customer care guy said the address change will be done, but he brought in a new
clause ... I would require to furnish proof of address within next 30 days. This
wasnt told to me earlier. Anyways, I went and gave a written request along with
proof of address to an Airtel Office. I made sure to take a "received" stamped
and signed from this office. After this I got a sms from Airtel saying address
    change done successfully.

However, to my surprise, when i called up customer care after a few days, the
address change had not been done. Neither was there any record of any such
request from my end !! So again this guy took my request. However, once again
address was not changed. This happened again... another guy again promised to
change the address but to no avail.

My address finally got changed after 19 days of giving the request. And after
repeated complaints at the website, customer care and airtel office. Finally on
speaking to the GM of the Customer Services things moved.

Meantime, I didnt receive my bill and the call centre guy started pestering
for payments. however, i told them that i will make payment only after receiving
    bill.

I have asked for a compensation of Rs 2500 from Airtel and the GM, CSD has
promised that he would be giving the compensation for this lapse.

This is just for info of the forum members. I would urge the members not to
give in to the unreasonable demands of the mobile companies but to fight back
and get your money's worth of services.

    Regards

    Dear Sir,
I have gone through the complains about Hutch, I do concurr with
the observations. However, I came accross another problem that I
think, I would share with my friends of this website.
    The story goes like this:-
I have a Hutch connection for life-time-incomming free. One odd
morning I got a call on my mobile asking me to take a post paid
connection. However, the offer was subject to confirmation by a
second call from one of the executives. Thank GOD. I got some
time. And by the time the call of the executive came, I happened
to meet a friend of mine who apprised me of the hassels of having
a post paid connection of Hutch.
Subsequently when the call of the executive(?) came I simply said
"sorry" without allowing any chance for pestering.
I am sure my friends would understand as to why they started
preaching about the benifits of post paid from the same mouth with
which once they preached the benifits of prepaid
    for-lifetime-incoming-free.
    Regards
