I am using same Vodafone connection (number) in Bangalore since 2004. I got this converted to post-paid sometime in 2006-2007.
Recently I have faced a lot of network issues which are acknowledged by Vodafone technical team. As I understand the backend network team is working on the issue. They were supposed to install network boosters in my area, but now when I inquired I came to know that network boosters are out of stock! They may get them in the month of March.
I have thus decided to move my post-paid connection to pre-paid so that I pay for only the usage. I have never got any conclusive answer from Vodafone Customer Case so far.
I have seen pdf format forms on Vodafone web-site (circle specific), which do offer post-paid to pre-paid conversions.
However, I was first told that such a conversion is not allowed. I have to surrender existing post-paid connection and then take a new pre-paid connection.
Later I was told that Vodafone is facing “Technical Issues” due to which this conversion is not possible. They asked me to wait, but no time line defined. I am not sure how much I have to wait?
I was in touch with Nodal officer, but I have yet seen any decent effort to resolve my complaint. All my efforts to preserve my existing contact number have not so far succeeded.
I hope you can understand how difficult it is to move to use a new number.
I saw some positive replies on this forum, so though of giving my issue of post-paid to pre-paid conversion a final try.

MOST PATHETIC SERVICE EVER SEEN BY ANY SERVICE PROVIDER!
Road side shops have better management than Vodafone!
FYI: I have given up Vodafone connection and moved to Airtel.
Not that I have high hopes from Vodafone, but still keeping my fingers crossed. Hope it is better than Airtel when it comes to customer service.

Already written to Vodafone Mobile Appellate Authority (as mentioned in Vodafone website), but got no responses!!

Got auto generated email saying they will get back to me in 48hours. Till now, I have not got any reply from them or any call from them to discuss the problem.
Only when I officially asked them to disconnect my number, they started calling and offering me 0 rental etc etc.
Still not ready to convert the number to pre-paid number, which I think is MANDATORY by TRAI in India??
