    Default Airtel Prepaid - "Sim card registeration failed"

    Hello Sir,

    My name is Emil, from Chennai (right now in Chicago). I'm a frequent flyer, I've a concern regarding the prepaid mobile number 9840295450. I'm using the number for past 10 years. Now on 24th Jan 2012 I got my sim cancelled and I get the message "Sim Card registeration failed". I called customer care and they informed me that I did not use my number for 3 months (call/recharge) and the system automatically disconnected my number (had really bad experience when my dad contacted customer care, the line was hung up. A 60 years aged person treated like that is courteousless). Right now I'm in Chicago, during my recent visit I had my number active in my mobile but did not make any call/recharge for 3 months. Airtel customer care representative says that while signing enrollment form I had accpeted all these conditions and signed. I accept the point and it s my mistake of not making a call/recharge for 3 months. But just to think practically, do you except all customers to read the entire enrollement form rules before getting a number? There could've been a notice to my home address/mobile number before disconnecting the service. I had used the same number for 10 years (3 years as postpaid and 7 years as prepaid), obviously the number has sentiments (was my first mobile number) and the number is with all my clients and internet services (Airtel DTH, ICICI Bank, HDFC bank etc). Disconnecting without any notice had disappointed my like for Airtel. My dad went to airtel office in Chennai, he was treated politely in the office, they said I can get back my number with a new SIM, but when he spoke to the person in hotline from airtel office, a lady told that the number has not been used for 3 months and she cannot reactivate it. When my dad asked whether he can get the number in his name, she said it cannot be done in a harsh way and the line was hung up. Is this a way a 10 year old customer will be treated? Not even a 10 year old customer, a 60 years old person being treated so makes me feel bad. The airtel office employee has asked my dad to contaxt Aistel Nodal officer. I accept that it was my fault of not using my number, but does customer do not have any value? Am I asking for a rebate of my money or something, I'm just asking to reactivate my number. It seems like I'm asking some shares from Airtel. You might have rules to be followed but genuine customer should be treated fairly and old people with some respect. Please look into the issue.
