I requested for mobile number portability from Vodafone to Airtel in order to use my new iPhone 4S also purchased from airtel. I was extremely please with my Vodafone service but just for my iphone4s i had to try airtel. One person from airtel (ph: 8754549411) came to my office on Dec6 and collected all the documents and the porting code. He assured that it would be ported within 7 working days. I called him regularly and he told some stupid reasons. Then after 20 days he told he needed my Vodafone bill. I gave it to him. Then the same story continued. Then he told my porting code expired, i generated new code and gave. At last after calling him more than 100 times i got my porting date on 17th Jan 2012. On that night i lost connection in my Vodafone sim but failed to get service in my new Airtel sim. Next day i called to the customer care like 10 times and mostly customer care cut the call in the middle and fail to call back. I had to repeat the entire story 10 times. From what i understand is that my porting is done but not to the sim given to me, but to a different sim card. Which means that my id proof and my number is ported to a sim which i dont have. Any one can misuse that sim and i would be held responsible. I was forced to buy a new sim card as temporary use due to this delay caused by Airtel. Am paying the price for choosing Airtel. Kindly resolve this issue and provide compensation for the expense that it has caused to me. I was also misguided by the Airtel rep that it was not possible to port postpaid to prepaid. I think he did this so he can earn more. Please port me to Airtel prepaid.
