    Default Not activated 3G but still charged - airtel mobile

    This is regarding my airtel mobile number: 7702393222 which I started using from 14 Feb 2011.

    Airtel called me saying that they are launching 3G services and whether I want to use this service. I told them ok, they said I would receive an SMS when the 3G service will get activated. After couple of hours, I received an SMS saying 3G is activated on my mobile, however when I checked my mobile screen (my handset is Iphone4), it was not showing '3G' symbol instead it was still showing 'E' symbol. I called up their customer care number and explained them my problem. They said they will raise a incidence log and will look into the matter and reply me back in 2 days. They again called me up saying they checked their systems and 3G is activated, they asked me to verify the 3G symbol by switching mobile off and on. I did that but I was still seeing 'E' symbol and not 3G. The customer care said they will again check it or send some person to check in my mobile. However the person never came to me and all the communication was still going on over the phone between me and the customer care executives. This kept on going for some 1.1/2 to 2 months. After all the annoying experience, I thought it is better to visit the airtel shop personally and meet the Manager of the branch. On visiting the Manager and explaining him about the whole problem, and made him check the complain log history I had raised over this issue, he said he understands my problem but he cant do anything and asked me to send an email to 121@in.airtel.com. Below is the email communication I sent to 121@in.airtel.com wherein I escalated the matter to the concerned department. However, I never received any reply or response from them. Meanwhile, the customer care executives have been calling me daily and harassing me for the payment. They were saying they will give a discount of 50% on the total billing amount (this final bill amount is around Rs. 11000/- this is total of two months). Now my question is: When 3G was never activated on my mobile in the first place itself, where is the question of paying for that service?

    I had earlier (in Jan) replied to your post saying that this issue is not resolved and please re-open it. I do not see that post here.

    In order for your team to resolve this issue, I have provided u all the information that is required and I can't understand what more information u need from me. I suppose you guys still want to harass me after getting my contact details.

    Sincerely request you accept ur mistake and close this item at the earliest otherwise i might have to take legal steps.
