    Default Recovery calls from Airtel and Harassment issue

    This is to report an issue of harassment calls from Telephone Service Provider Airtel. I owned an Airtel # 9717188820. I was a regular bill payer of this number. In the month of June 2011, I was given a bill of 15497 rupees. When I asked for the explanation of the uses, I was told that my GPRS uses were high and I was using a 3G service on my phone. I never asked for a 3G service, I don’t have a 3G compatible phone as well. Before the generation of this bill I received a call from Airtel department, the representative said that I had been using 3G services and I am liable to pay for the bill of 4 thousand. I requested the person to discontinue the services as I never requested and I never used. They disconnected my GPRS plan.
    I lodged a complaint against this to the Customer Care, they re-activated a new GRPS plan without giving me the information that they had changed my GPRS Plan.
    I checked the bill of June and that detailed bill showed inappropriate uses of the internet, which was beyond my expectations. The charges of the kilobytes were also no equal. I complained about this many times, they kept on giving me false commitments of getting the bill corrected and re-assessed. These inquiries can be verified by the Airtel’s database. I also asked them to tell me the download details, they were not ready to provide.
    The GPRS uses show, I have been constantly downloading something throughout the whole month. Which is not correct, Airtel’s data department also agreed to me and they confessed that the bill had some issues and this will be rectified.
    After some days I started getting calls from Airtel’s recovery department to pay the bills, they disconnected my number without any intimation. Even after that I agreed to pay a justified bill; I don’t earn a handsome salary to pay 15 or 16 thousand as telephone bill. I requested the company to allow me to settle the bill in installments. They have been forcing me to pay the bills and threatening me to bear the consequences.

    After so many follow ups they agreed to settle the bill at 8 thousand rupees, I requested them to allow me to pay the bill via installments. But I was told to pay the whole amount the very day else, they will use other evil ways to recover the amount.
    They have started calling my contacts and spreading rumors, they called my wife and told her that they have captured me and beating me, and they threatened her that if I don’t pay the bill the consequences will be worse.
    They are also calling my contacts and spreading rumors, this is violation of my privacy and someone is misusing my contacts. When I agreed to pay the amount, then I don’t find a reason for being harassed.

    I received threat calls from : 01149662031, the representatives keep calling my wife and other contacts in my bill and make cock and bull story and tarnish my image, this is unethical and this is creating disturbance in personal life.

    I went to the local police station and lodged a complaint as well, with the above given content.

    I would like to lodge a complaint against the same.

    Hello,

    Thank you for looking into this, the threatening calls continues, i received a call yesterday Nov.27th as well. The number is same as above. the person used an abusive language and went on misbehaving with me. He calls my wife in my absence and threatens her for the same. He has been telling her that i have some extra marital affairs where i had been spending the money in calling someone, whereas the bill dispute is over internet uses. This behavior from Bharti Airtel has caused disturbance in my personal life. I am going to consult a lawyer and file a case of defamation and airtel is going to be responsible for the problems they have created in in life of a consumer.

    When i was ready to pay the settled amount in installments, then i don't find a reason for calling my wife and other contacts and talking crap. after getting this much humiliated, do you think i should pay something to airtel?
