    Default Airtel charging thousands for my internet usage which was under FREE usage duration

    Since i activated 2 months of FREE internet usage for new NOKIA N8 3G from Airtel Mobile, i used internet until i received SMS notification from Airtel that my offer expired. As per the SMS notification, the expiry was on 14th Sep 2011 5:18 PM. However, in the bill, only until 12th Sep 2011 is being considered FREE and the rest of the usages are being billed. Due to this the bill amount is being offset by THOUSANDS.

    I've already presented the SMS messages proof in screenshot, video, Text attachment and PDF attachments to Nodal Officers and Appellate team members. I've contacted customer care several times and physically presented myself with SMS proof at Airtel Santhome office, Chennai. Still, the case is being shifted from one support executive to another and the billing section keeps calling me for payment, which was supposed to be FREE. As per the support, the actual expiry was on 12th Sep 2011 while i received SMS mentioning that it's on 14th Sep 2011.

    Below are the detaisl of the SMS messages that i received:
    SMS Received on 12-09-2011 at 6:25PM
    From: AD-Service
    Message: Your airtel Free Data offer will be deactivated in 3 days. To enjoy upto 2GB internet surfing at Rs.98 for 30 days, SMS "INTERNET" TO 121. Post 2GB, surf@10ps/10kb.




    SMS Received on 14-09-2011 at 5:18PM
    From: AD-Service
    Message: airtel Free Data Offer has been deactivated. Data usage will be charged @30paise/20kb. To activate 2GB plan, SMS "INTERNET" to 121.

    As a customer, i don't wish to be held responsible for false/wrong SMS notifications from Airtel. Please resolve my billing problem, by treating the internet usage until 14th Sep 2011 5:18 PM as FREE.

    Thank you for the response.

    As of now, I've been contacted by an Airtel customer service executive (on 18th Oct)and was told to wait until Monday, next week (24th Oct). This is being done so that the issue can be checked with the back-end/tech team. I will come back with an update as soon as i receive it.

    Yes, the problem has been resolved!

    Even though i discussed with multiple appellate members, one of them was willing enough to understand the real problem and took appropriate action, that put an end to a month of misery.
