This complaint is in regards with a fraud service and a huge scam run by Reliance on a large scale to dupe its mobile customers of deducting charges for some unknown services without taking any permission of the concerned user. I'm very sure that many customers may not have noticed this at all and this has been going on for long. I will share my experience here and would like other customers to pitch in if they have noticed or faced the same problem.
I'm using the Pre-paid Reliance GSM number 9555839489 in Noida, U.P. and usually recharge every month on regular basis. Recently I re-charged for Rs 222/= on 15th jan, 2011 and I had a balance of Rs 225/= approximately on that day. But within a week I noticed on 24th Jan, 2011 that my balance had reduced automatically to Rs 87/= even without making any significant call which could reduce my balance by Rs 140/=. When I contacted the customer care today they said that I had been subscribed to some service and a renewal fee has been deducted from my account for the same. This was really surprising because I had never subscribed/requested for any kind of service in last 1 year and when I inquired about the kind/features of this service, thecustomer care said that they had no idea what kind of service it was. Despite asking him many times, he couldn't tell me anything about the service and kept repeating that no matter what happens I can't get my refund. Then I asked the person to let me speak to his senior and then he put me on hold and later cut the phone irritatingly. I again rang back and discussed myproblem with a new person this time, but he too gave me the same answer and then I again asked him to connect to his senior, and thankfully he did it this time. But the worst thing was yet to come and the most startling or shocking revealing happened to me when he told me that even he had no idea what kind of service it was.(he appeared drunk by his voice and it was of no concern to me but he couldn't explain or talk sense) All he said that it is some kind of an "Into-update" service that he could see in his system and he doesn't know the features/applications of this service. He again mentioned (by looking at his system) that arenewal fee is being deducted from my prepaid balance since last 2-3 months. And then I has realized that how big this fraud or scam is, because if a user had failed to check his balance everyday he may not even notice that he has been charged for some service that he never asked or wanted to use consciously.
When I asked him to refund my money, he said it won't matter at all and I can speak to anyone in the higher authority but I'll not get the refund at any cost. (Just FYI - this call center is located in Mohali)
So the net result is that I never subscribed for any service and despite that, my balance is being deducted every now and then for a service whose features is not even known to Reliance people. This clearly shows that reliance is minting money fraudulently by activating some unknown service (that is not even clear to reliance people themselves) on the user's mobile without notifying them about it anddeducting money regularly in an unauthorized manner. In my case, this has been happening probably since last 2-3 months and I need the competent authority to investigate this scam thoroughly. At the end , I need justice for my rightful moneyrefund and I don't want any false promises or insincere apologies from anyone.
