Airtel deactivation harassment Dear Sir,
I had registered with Airtel for a new/add on post-paid connection, as per their offer of a new post paid connection against my landline number 011-4950 2026.
This connection is registered under the name of Ms. Gunjita Dhawan. It was activated on the 5th of May 09. I got a call and a message from Citibank stating that there was some outstanding for one of their cards for Mr. Ashish Arora .
Upon this i made a call on my behalf to Airtel customer care asking them that since this is a new connection and I have no relationship or connection with any Mr Arora. Then i was informed that this is a surrendered number from a previous user which came as a shock to me. this was not stated to me at the time when this number was forcibly given to me . As i am a first time user of this number (9810029628) I approached Airtel to discontinue services, i was then informed that under the circumstances i should either change my number or call up Citibank myself and inform them this is a new connection, which is not my responsibility. I Have agreeably wanted to shut this number yet Airtel refused to discontinue services on the pretext that the first bill needs to be generated post which i should again call Airtel to shut the phone.
This has been gross negligence on the part of Airtel as they are refusing to help me out, they say I must wait another 2 days before shutting the number. Please help me take this matter up and redress this issue.
Please if you could convince Airtel to shut this number, I am prepared to pay any outstanding dues for 28 or so odd days of usage, i would request you to prevent these harassing calls from collection agencies that are trying to collect the money owed by the previous user. These calls are very harassing for a woman i have even been called at inappropriate hours like 12 at night to speak with the aforementioned Mr Ashish Arora.
Expecting a response at the earliest,
Yours sincerely
Gunjita Dhawan
