Hello Sir,
I m really helpless and need your help in the issue which I have been facing for last 3 months.
I had an Airtel Connection which I used for 5 years. On 21st Jan this year I went to US and got my roaming activated. I receive only one message on 14th Feb 2009 saying that "Your total usage of Rs 39689 exceeds your credit limit of Rs 28200. Kindly make the payment for Rs31229 today to enjoy continued services"and services got disconnected since then. Please note there was no welcome message when I got my roaming service activated stating the charges apply. I have put this query to Airtel since last week of Feb when I returned from US abt why didnt they inform me when my usage was crossing my credit limit ? So that I would have taken the precautionary measures and diverted all my calls to US DID.The response which I got was ridiculous as they need 14 days to get the CDR from roaming carieer. This is absolutely ridiculous as I m a telecom engineer and know that the CDR gets update after every second. And on top I have got so many harassing calls from Airtel customer care. I sent so many emails on nodelofficer.del@airtel.in and was co-coordinating with there relationship Sr. Manager but the response was like..."we will provide you the discount of Rs 5000"..
I sent the official letter on 31st March ( the speed post slip is with me) to following address
The Chairman
Bharti Cellular Limited
Qutub Ambience
H-5/12, Mehrauli Road
New Delhi 110030.
asking abt resolving my matter in 15 days, In which I have informed Airtel that I pay my actual credit limit, or else I will file my case to consumer court. Nothing happend even after that unless today when I receive a notice from Airtel saying Legal notice under section 403, 405,406, read with section 420 of the IPC. As per SEF you sign with Airtel your roaming charges applied and you got to pay Rs 50,000 or else Airtel will take legal action.
This is just a fraud which I never expected from a company whos number I used for 5 years.
Infact what is more disappointing is the way their Tech said these words to me" We agree with you but if we start working the way you want then all telco`s will be on road and they have to close their businesses and shops"
I just want to have your help/opinion to know what would be the next step in this case ?and whether the legal notice which they sent me saying that i have 7 days to pay the amount has anything severe even after I file my case to consumer court soon ?
I would like to fight for this cause as I know many people like me ended up having this grief..specially those who dont know about the way telecommunication works.
Please let me know the process of filing this case
Please reply soon.
