KOLKATA, April 7: CBI officials arrested Janardan Bhattacharya (53), a cashier with BSNL's telecom electrical division-2, for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a contractor to pass some bills this
afternoon.
A senior CBI official said that the contractor had earlier refused to bribe the cashier for his payment had been withheld. The contractor then lodged a complaint with the CBI and the sleuths today laid a trap
to catch Bhattacharya red handed. "Around 4.30 p.m. today, the contractor went to meet Bhattacharya with Rs 5,000 on the second floor of Yogayog Bhawan. Our officers reached the spot in disguise and
caught him red handed when he took the money.

BSNL and corruption is synonymous. BSNL supremo should start nationwide drive to throw away corrupt officials from BSNL. If such drive is started from Nagpur, at least 25 corrupt officials will be
required to be thrown out on day one. This will include vigilance officer of BSNL.
