Default Refusal to give Receipt by AIRTEL

    Dear Forum Members,

I am facing a problem with Airtel. I went to clear my bill at their office. I wanted to make cheque payment. but the guy in the counter refused to give me a receipt for the same. he asked me to drop it in the drop box. now i had faced a situation earlier where they had misplaced my cheque resulting in my connection getting debarred for a couple of days.

now, when i gave a complaint regarding this, airtel is saying that they cant give receipt because if the cheque bounces, then a customer can show the receipt as proof of payment made. and they say, they have lost some case in the court also in this regard. so they have made company policy not to give receipt for cheque payment.

i think its absurd ... the bank itself will tell that the cheque has bounced and hence the payment has not been done... how can they lose a case because of this?
and even if they have, how can they make it a policy not to give receipt to all customers?

can the learned members here throw some light?

    regards,

Can you pay cash ? If yes, at least presently pay up this bill.

After that you got sufficient time to find permanent solution to your problem of paying by cheque.

I am also a Airtel subscriber and they send me SMS as soon as they get my cheque ( 2 days within dropping it at drop box ). Then within next 3-5 days I get intimation that the amount is credited ( i.e when cheque has been cleared )

This is happening till date since last 1-2 yrs I am their client. Good service indeed. At least I know
when I do not receive SMS within 1 week that something is wrong.

However I do not deny that they might have misplaced your cheque and hence you need to be more careful. Best solution is to pay cash. There should be no problem in accounting also.

Secondly you can opt for online payment or though your credit card.

    Best of Luck !
