On 4th March 2010, my Iphone 3g hanset was stolen, while i was on my way to Office. I went to the local Police Station and lodged a complaint,i.e GDE No-190. I asked Police to lodge an FIR but they said there is no need of it, just take this GDE No and we will try to trace the Handset and they also adviced me to contact my service provider (AIRTEL).
I contacted AIRTEL, but got no satisfactory response. I requested AIRTEL to provide me with the legal guidelines issued by them which can be used by general public in order to get their handset traced via IMEI number. But they have yet not provided any legal document/guideline issued by AIRTEL.

Please suggest what can be done in this case. Also, Can we get Handset traced by the use of IMEI number ?
