Default Airtel Friends chat activated without subscription.

Airtel is truly becoming a thief.

On 26 Dec I received a message stating Airtel Friends chat is activated on my number. Rs 30/month is also charged from my balance.

It also stated that to cancel subscription call 543216. I called this number (which is not toll free. you are charged for calling on this number.) but was unable to find how to unsubscribe.

Then I called 121 and the customer care told me that I subscribed to this service by calling 543216. That idiot did not understand that I called 543216 in because I wanted to unsubscribe as the service was activated without my request.

Also they are unwilling to return my Rs 30.

I hope TRAI takes notice of such malpractices of Airtel. What a thief company.

Thumbs down AIRTEL - Beware of service messages - Prepaid subs.

On 25th Dec. 2009 evening around 0630 pm I got an inbox message which displayed "3 idiots...". I pressed to see what is it and since nothign got downloaded within a few seconds, I cancelled it. Pat came a message "thanks for downloading.........and you have been charged Rs.99/= for this service". This is grossly unfair. There was no prior warning about the charges nor there was any request from me asking for such services. I never used these services of airtel.

My no. is 97899 31445. If Airtel is a fair service provider, I would ask it to credit my account with the Rs.99/=. Also, it should ask all its subscribers, whether they would like to subscribe for these messages. The cus care 121 goes on with its promotions and it is almost impossible to get someone online to register your complaint.

Default Airtel deactivated my sim and stole over 600inr worth of airtime.

    hi all,
I was ripped off by Airtel as well, they stopped the ability to dial calls from my phone, and after complaining and registering my complaint, instead of resolving the issue, they deactivated the service and stole over 600INR worth of airtime that I bought from them. I sent this letter to Airtel "121@airtelindia.com" :

    Hello
I bought an airtel prepaid number which is 8890370757 in jaipur rajesthan; after few days my service was stopped so I went to the office where I purshaced the sim card and they said that the service was stopped because customer did not exist. I said well here I am and she checked my passport and everything and then the service was restored.

I bought 1000 INR worth of air time and I used it and then I purshased another 1000 INR worth of airtime.

All the sudden on february the 4th I was not able to make calls from my phone and neither being able to recieve calls so I called Airtel and they said they had confirmed my complain and they are trying to resolve this issue by Monday feb-8th.

Shockingly the sim was completely deactivated on Feb the 5th. So I went to Airtel office on Saturday Feb the 6th and they called Airtel office and said that the service was cancelled and the sim was deactivated because customer did not exist.

Well I do exist when I talked to them Airtel personnel they said they were sorry.
I still have over 600 INR worth of airtime on the sim and I was waiting for them to resolve my complain well they did by stopping the service.

I asked for the reason they said they tried to contact me but I did not reply this is not true. they said they had sent some messages well I recieved some messages from Airtel but they were in Indian language not English.
I am a forigen national and I do not understand any word in Indian language.
So Airtel broke the cotract they made with me and stole my money.

I complained in the office and they told me this is how Airtel makes its money by deactivating services for customers so they would lose any purchased airtime.
That was shocking they offered me to buy a new simcard. And said all customers when they get ripped off by Airtel they buy another simcard, they said : we are sorry but mistakes happen, nothing we can do for you.

I said noooooo wayyyyy. I am not gunna let them rip me off again.
Well, the respond I got from them after like 2 weeks::Dear Sir/Madam:

    Thank you for contacting Airtel.

You have expressed concern regarding deactivation of your Airtel number 8890370757.

We regret for the inconvenience caused in this regard and we regret the delay in replying to your mail.

We regret to inform you that as the number has been permanently deactivated due to negative verification as on 04/02/2010. Hence, we regret to inform that we are unable to refund the amount paid for prepaid connection if the number permanently deactivates.

For further assistance, mail us at 121@airtelindia.com.

We thank you and value your association with Airtel.

    Warm Regards,

What kind of warm regards they are reffering to when they steal your money and deactivate your service??????
They claim that there was negative verification, well i was in Airtel office severasl times and I asked what kind of verification you need and they said hmmmm, well we got everything.

So when I was in Airtel office , so many customers told me that they had similar problems where Airtel stole their money and they cannot get them back, and they would buy another sim card and pray that Airtel would not steal from them again.
I was shocked. I mean, where the indian police and courts.
Well, I am trying to sue them, but since I am a forign national I do not know how and and where, but surely when I go back to Canada, I well sue'm in Canadian courts. Eventhough, they may not care , but at least when I get a judgement, and any1 of airtel travel to canada, they will sieze them till they pay my money.
Maybe the money is really not that much, but it is a matter of principle, some body has to stop those theives posing as communication company.

    Default Bye bye Airtel

Airtel has been adding VAS to my prepaid mobile number on its own. This has been highly annoying as it leads to uncalled-for expenses and wastage of time in canceling these brand-enforced services.

I am getting another service provider. Mr. Mittal, are you listening?

    Unhappy customer,

i wuld soon have to think of discontinuing the airtel connection and suggesting all my friends for the same since many of us have been through similar situations. We do not ask for any service and the money is deducted for some illogical service that i never subscribed to. being a student its hard to continue with more than half of your balance being ripped off unnecessarily and unfairly. somebody should take action to rectify.
