Recently a prepaid recharge card of Airtel was purchased for Rs. 330/- &
refill done. The card is valid from 16-09-05 till 14-12-05.
Since the outgoing call charges on this type of card are Rs. 5/- per
minute, we tried to block the outgoing call facility but the msg on the
phone was 'Service not available'. The instrument is Motorola Timeport
Voicestream.
Then we checked with the Airtel pre-paid Helpline no. 9892098920 and the
reply was that Outgoing facility blocking is not available on 'Sunte
Raho'?
A msg was sent thru Feedback on their website but only once, a female
operator
called on the mobile & informed that 'Outgoing Call barring facility' is
not available on this type of card.
I insisted that since feedback was thru e-mail, an e-mail reply be sent
to enable us to take up this matter with TRAI or other authorities. No
response till date eventhough it is over one week that the feed back was
sent.
The issue from the consumer point is:
By not allowing such facility, Airtel is compelling the subscriber to use the
outgoing facility at the exhorbitant charge of @ Rs 5/- per minute. This is a
'Restrictive Trade Practice'.
How to pursue this matter & with whom.
I also need the e-mail ID & name of the CEO of Airtel.
