Dear Team,
I had purchased Samsung Galaxy S [GT I-9003] on 26/10/2011, on a Diwali Day, from a genuine mobile phone shop at Andheri, Mumbai. Its 29/11/2011 today and my phone's touchpad has given in. Its 2 touch keys on either sides of the centre [home key], below the screen have stopped functioning all of a sudden. I took my phone to the seller, who informed me of the touch pad conking off and needs to be attended by the service centre.
On submitting the phone at the service centre, I was informed of the phone having chances of being a copy of the original. I was taken surprise by the act. I was informed of replacing the touch pad at the cost of Rs. 5,500/-. I still have 11 months of warranty under my belt. On probing, I was informed that the phone's serial numer [IMIE no.] is genuine and there is no problem on this.
This seems to me as a ploy, where I feel the money would be pocketed and my spares would be replaced free of cost, since being under warranty.
I have been asked to keep the phone at the centre for 2 days. I use this handset for my business purpose and send / recieve my mails through it.
I have also heard [offline] and read many complaints on the forum here, that the service centre keeps the phone for more than 2 days and does not revert back responsibly to its customer.
I am raising a concern, as to keep the team informed of the act and to avoid going through the agony of inconvenience.
Request you to please look into the matter.
Thanking you in antiocipation
