Hi, this is to bring to your kind notice that I have purchased a Nokia N8-00 set from Shree Balaji Mobile: B-15, Basement Shri Ram Tower, Ashok Marg, Lucknow-226001 (U.P) on 30th Jan 2011. The IMEI No. of my set is 35361046708555.

Since when I have purchased this set, I’ve been wasting my time and energy both on it and have suffered with a great mental trauma arising out of this so called Nokia’s costliest set available in the market (at the time of my purchase) of a most reputated brand like you. I have been running to Nokia care service centers pleading to provide remedy to my problems & have been terribly dissatisfied by the services rendered by them (Can be checked in Handset Repair History)

Following are the problems; I’m facing since inception of the purchase of this set:

1. No Name/No Image when Calls Received/Done: This phone like any other multimedia phone of Nokia has a very common feature to assign photographs clicked by my phone to the contact number of that particular person, so that the name and the photograph both are displayed when any call arrives or done from my side on which photograph has been assigned by me. Now the problem is that my phone doesn’t display the contact image and even the name of that contact person which is saved in the phonebook/contact list which creates a hell lot of difficulties to recognize the caller. Also sometimes, it displays somebody’s else’s image in place of that particular caller.

2. Open Application closes in between wasting all my efforts: This is really an amazing piece of pain which this happening set can provide. I work as a Sr. Branch Manager in an Insurance Co. and my sector’s 75% of work goes on SMSs (messages) and my e-mails configured on my set. Same applies with me as well. I am a heavy user and in need to do large number of SMSs everyday to my team for communication purposes. When I draft a message and come at the stage of completing my text, my set gives a shock to me. To my surprise, the message application closes automatically and all the efforts done in texting go in vain. This moment is really very painful and drastic for me. Similar case happens when using some other applications like sending e-mails (written text disappears due to the closure of application) or while using my face-book account. Anything closes anytime in between.

3. Poor Battery Backup: Goes without saying that this new handset doesn’t provide even one full day battery backup. And that is when I don’t play games or watch videos at all.

Also, since I have unlimited access to internet on my mobile, I have my e-mails configured and my face book always remain online. I keep on updating the latest software in my handset using software update option provided in handset.

Resolutions provided to me by Nokia Care, Park Road, Lucknow Branch:

The very first interaction wherein the set is being received is managed by a group of female staff which is quite decent and hospitile but would like to say that they take much time in lodging the complaint. Secondly, since I was not able to make that female staff understand my problem crisp, I requested to make me talk to the engineer so that the things can be narrated well. I was not satisfied by the technical staff present there to inspect my set as he was not very much impressive in communicating things. Also the engineer was made approachable on several requests. To all problems of mine, I got a same answer that Sir, “Your set requires Software update and every thing will be drained out off the set.” Once this will be done, your set will be new and will function properly and assured me that every thing will be resolved. I agreed since thankfully, I had created a backup for me, which I restored in my empty set provided back to me by Nokia care.

I was surprised to see that the same latest software version was again updated which I had done already via software update in my cell.

Following are the suggestions provided to me by Nokia Care, Park Road, Lucknow Branch:

1. Sir, don’t do software updates by your own on Vodafone mobile connect, as that updation may get interrupted on normal inernet. Rather do it on a WI-FI if you require doing so. I agreed to it and have not updated my set’s software since last repair.

2. Sir, don’t remain online on your mails and Face book, rather log it when you require. I completely disagreed and said, “What is the use of purchasing so expensive mobile, when I can’t remain online and have to log into applications everytime.”

3. This software update will solve all your pronlems and they will not occur in future.

I trusted them and have been using my set as per the instructions provided to me in the last repair. It worked normally only for 4-5 days and the same problems have emerged again sowing their permanent persistency and strongly believe that there is some technical/internal manufacturing defect in my handset.

You only tell, how many times, I may get my set’s software updated and get my all data drained out and keep on wasting my time and energy in restoring things via backup…????

Request you to please provide a permanent fix up and concrete remedy to all my issues so that I may get rid of this mental tension and refrain my self from approaching consumer forum.
