Hi,
This is regarding Nokia product recall (defective Matsushita
batteries), as per the company's press release in newspapers around
18 Aug 2007.
As per Nokia's press release, they had to replace all batteries
within a day or two (somewhere around 18-20 Aug 2007). According to
them, replacement battery would be sent free of cost by courier/post
along with a self addressed envelope to send back the faulty battery.
I sent my first SMS on 18 Aug 2007 and I recd an SMS from Nokia
saying that the battery needs to be replaced and that Nokia will send
the replacement if I send my address. Immediately on 18 Aug 2007, I
SMSed my address. I got a reply saying that they have stored my
address and that they will get back to me soon.
As I did not hear from the company, I resent my address by SMS on 25
Aug and got the same reply by SMS.
I repeated this on Sep 1 and got the same reply, but no action.
I called up Nokia's call center and their representative said that
since 40 million batteries need to be replaced, it will take some
time.
Finally, when I re SMSed my address to Nokia, I got a message saying
I have crossed my limit of sending SMS. Further attempts to send SMS
have yielded the same result.
Nothing has happened since 3 months.
