Airtel Super High International Roaming Rates Hi,
I activated the International Roaming on my phone as I was traveling abroad and I had a transit in Qatar. I used my phone only in Qatar for 2 hours, which is clearly shown in my itemized bill.
While activating the international roaming I asked specifically what are call rates from qatar on roaming to call back to India. The customer representative told me 150Rs. and after that he also asked me to check online. I checked online(airtel website) and it also stated the same.
I used the phone on international roaming for only two hours with the notion that I am gonna be charged 150 Rs for the same. While coming back again I had a transit in Qatar and to my surprise the phone wasn't connecting to any of the network and I couldn't call back to India. Once I reached India my sim wasn't working.
I called the customer care and they informed me that my phone services have been disconnected as I have exceeded my credit limit. I asked them how much is the amount. To bring to the notice my credit limit was 7500 rs. and to my astonishment the amount he told me was hard to belive. He said I have been charged 94,300 Rs for the calls (2 hours)
Since then I have been calling customer care and the nodal officers to understand why am I being charged so heavily. Is it justified to charge 733rs per minute while the website shows currently 167Rs/min ( Previously when I traveled it showed 150 Rs). I have been continuously calling Nodal officers zillion times (as most of the time the phone doesn't connect).
I don't know what to do. I have lost my peace of mind and trust in airtel. I have been using the phone for nearly 2.5 years now(Postpaid) and this is how I am treated and cheated.
What is airtel trying to achieve here. Hiding the actual cost and putting heavy charges on the customers. I was informed wrong and the website shows wrong information. I should have been informed about the taxes and all beforehand if it was so expensive. Also when my credit limit was 7500 how can you exceed it to 1 lakh Rs (That is my total bill).
Soon if this doesn't gets changed I will be applying to consumer forum.
regards,
Shilpa
