    Default Incorrect Bill Amount - Airtel (Iphone 4s 2k plan)

    My name is Gaurav Didwania and my Airtel number is 9867023210. I have been using Airtel since November 28, 2011.

    I currently have the Iphone 4s plan. This plan can be broken up into a rental of INR 2000 with free benefits as follows:
    All local mins 1500 mins
    All SMS (local+national) 600 sms
    Data (3G) 3072 MB
    You Pay Rs. 1000

    A 50.0% discount on my rental for the first 24 months is provided to me as this is a promotional offer. The link for the plan is given below. airtel.in/iphone-files/special-offers.html

    Till now, I have received 2 bills from Airtel (since I started using Airtel in November 28, 2011) and both the bills according to me have incorrect calculations. Also, the Airtel executives are really not open to understand that there is a problem in the billing system. Speaking to the Appellate Officer of Mumbai, Dikshita (last name not disclosed by her) also didn't resolve the problem.

    Firstly, my bill for December 2011 (for period Nov 2011 - Dec 2011), I have been charged rental for 12 days. I have been given free benefits for calling and SMS, but I have not been given the monthly discount which I am entitled to. This translates to a bill amount of ~INR 966 (which I have already paid due to ignorance), where the actual amount should have been only half of that. The offer clearly states that I should get a discount for the first 24 months and not 23 months.

    Secondly, my bill for January 2012 (for period Dec 2011 - Jan 2012), I have been charged ~INR 1300, which is a hardcoded number and no breakup for this has been provided. Speaking to the Airtel executives also did not solve the problem as they were not ready to accept that there was a miscalculation in the bill amount and would try to confuse me with some random calculation. After 15 mins spent and explaining to them what the problem was, they would finally agree and would tell me that I would get a call from the billing department (which I never did). Speaking to the Appellate Officer, Dikshita, also did not entirely help me as after explaining to her what the problem was, she provided me with a credit of ~INR 280, but was unable to explain what the problem was. I am unsure if there would be a miscalculation in my bill the next time.

    I am really disappointed by the quality of customer care and the bill generation system. I am also of the view that an additional discount should be provided to the customer if a wrong bill has been generated (a fine to the telecom company) which would help to reach the overall goal of proper bill generation.

    I would also request the other Iphone users using the Iphone 4s plan to check their bill for such discrepancies in their bill.

    I hope the matter is looked into as soon as possible.
