    Default Wrong network charges during international roaming

    I have been using airtel postpaid connection for couple of months. I deposited 5000 INR to activate the international roaming on my phone before I went abroad. After reaching USA I found that I am not able to make outgoing calls. I started using airtel call home calling cards with a toll free no. And when I returned to India I found that airtel charged me for using those cards.
    1) How airtel can charge me when I my international roaming is not working.
    2) Since I was using airtel calling cards only, how can they charge a customer twice for the same services?

    I'm Samuel James, from Chennai Tamilnadu. I have airtel prepaid mobile number 9894208507. Address: 25/12 A, Ananda Avenue, Radhakrishna Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur, Chennnai -35 (Address temporary). E-Mail id : sam.d.james@gmail.com

    I was off to Srilanka on Feb 6th 2011 and I returned to India on Feb 16th 2011. The balance when I left India was INR 311 and When I came back it was only 65.

    Reasons given by airtel:

    1. I made an outgoing call to India for 42 seconds and it charges INR 150 for that call.
    2. I activated a VAS using mobile office and it charges INR 99

    I would like to state that since I'm off to Srilanka for 20 days in a month my ARPU contribution to airtel will be very minimal and I completely deny the reasons given by airtel and my case is given below.

    1. I've an airtel Srilanka number - +94754678599, which I use when I visit Srilanka every time. So I've no reason what so ever to use my Indian mobile mentioned above to call an Indian number. If airtel has the same with 100% accuracy, Pls ask airtel to mail the audio tape of the call conversation to my e mail id - sam.d.james@gmail.com. Else they cannot claim that i've made a call just because they've the records which is their own and not audited by anyone.

    2. To use mobile office in Srilanka is not possible, since I have to use net in Srilanka using the local net settings provided by Srilanka. It's the common practice worldwide and I've the settings for Srilanka in my Srilankan sim holding mobile. So me activating a Value added service using Mobile office in Srilanka is totally against any logic which and contradictory to their previous deduction based on International roaming. I cannot use mobile office if I can make a call to India at the same day, while I'm in Srilanka.

    Pls look into the matter at the earliest and solve the issue. There has been so many issues with airtel which I don want to bring now. This highlights the courage of telecom companies to do what they want in the absence of an ombudman for telecom sector.

    Pls ask Airtel to respond asap.
