Default Reliance Communication - Calls received from Suspicious People

We had two Reliance Land Lines which were registered in the name of our factory manager with C/O as our company name. Our company is located in Silvassa (D&NH) - close to Vapi, Gujrat.

In July '04 we surrendered both the numbers to the nearest Reliance Webworld, cleared all our dues and go an acknowledgment from the local representative of acceptance of both the instruments.
We continued to receive a bill for the next 4 months and in December '04 we wrote a letter to Reliance Communications intimating to them that we are not using the numbers since the last 4 months but were still receiving the bill. The bill for December '04 spiraled to Rs.10,333 which we refused to pay for obvious reasons. We got an acknowledgment from the same webworld accepting this letter as the reason for non-payment of dues.

The matter seemed to end here as we did not hear from them anymore.

Now, on 16th November at 11 a.m, our Factory Manager received a call with the person on the other end stating that he was calling from "Delhi Police" and that there was a warrant issued in his name since there was a case lodged against him in Delhi Court by Reliance Communications in connection with the same two numbers whose dues were unpaid in December '04.
The "Delhi Police" representative also gave him the number of one lawyer who they said had all the information about this case.
On calling that "lawyer", he said that he represents Reliance Communications and that with relation to the numbers, there was a payment sue of Rs.10,333 + interest and penalty payments of Rs.45,500 over the last 6 years of non-payment.

On discussing with him that we had submitted the phones and have all written proof from the local representative of acceptance of cancellation of the numbers, he said that the case judgement was going to be passed at 1pm and if we do not make a payment of atleast Rs.10,333 the judgement would be passed in Reliance's favour and then we would have to deal with the local police in this matter. We also intimated him that over this course of 6 years we have not received any official communication from him or reliance communication stating that a case was lodged for the same. His reply to this was that a letter was sent by Registered AD in 2005 but it was our mistake that we did not take this matter further with Reliance about the unpaid dues and that we were now liable and responsible for no communication between us.

Being intimidated by this whole talk, our factory manager paid Rs.10,333 to the local reliance store and got a receipt for the same stating that we only had time till 1 PM so that the case is closed.

Unfortunately, had he not made the payment, we could've investigated the matter further and seen what would've happened but cant do anything legal now.

I have held back the names of the persons who had claimed that they were from Delhi Police / Lawyer for Reliance Communication as I would like to discuss the same with a proper Reliance Representative.

We have all original documents as stated above which prove that we have surrendered the phone and not used it between the period for which they have sent us the huge bill of Rs.10,333.

I would appreciate if someone can help us and give us proper contact details who we can speak to in Reliance for this matter.

I have my doubts regarding the authenticity of this call.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    thanks.

I have received a call from Mr.Dipak from the "Social Media Legal Team" and he had asked me for all the documents related to this number.

I have sent the following :

    (1) Letter from my company stating "CANCELLATION / RETURN OF MOBILE HANDSETS) along with an acceptance stamp + signature from the local Reliance Store (Sai Enterprises) dated 08.07.2004

    (2) Letter from my company stating "Receipt of Monthly Bill inspite of returning and cancelling the mobile handsets and closure of 2 numbers" along with acceptance stamp + siganture from local Reliance Store (Sai Enterprises) dated 02.10.2004.

    (3) Letter from my company stating "Receipt of Monthly Bill" even after sending the above letter in October 2010. This letter was submitted to SAI ENTERPRISES on 20.01.2005.

    (4) Copy of BILL with "PAID" stamp for the 2 numbers, for final settlement in JULY 2004.

After submitting all these documents to Mr.Dipak, I received a call from him saying "Do you have any official letter from Reliance Communications stating that they have accepted and cancelled these two numbers."

I told him "If Reliance has its office / franchisee given to SAI Enterprises in our area, it is our purview to submit all documents / requests with them. If they have accepted / stamped and singed our submission of the phones and accepted the 2 mobile handsets as surrender of the numbers, how are we supposed to know/insist that we require a confirmation from RELIANCE HEAD OFFICE for the acceptance of cancellation"

On telling him this he said "in this case we cannot help you further but we will try our best to see what can be done" and since that day (around 22nd November 2010) till today there has been no call back / correspondance from their side.

What I dont understand is, if they dont accept documents from their own representatives which are placed in REMOTE cities, how do they expect the customer to know this ?

If anyone can help me in telling me who I can contact in this matter, it would be great.

    Thanks.

Default Reliance Communication letter for Unpaid Dues

    Dear Sir ,

Similiar to the complaint posted earlier by some person , I have got a letter from reliance communications for the number which has been discontinued in 6 yrs back stating that an outstanding amount of 1881 is there , However during the period when i have discontinued the number all the outstanding dues were fully paid and closed.
After about 6 yrs the genuiness of these details so presented as dues cannot be verified from my end, as well as i havent got any communication regarding the unpaid dues during the whole time till yesterday . Hence it is very much difficult for me to understand why the dues firstly exist and secondly why the delay for over 5 -6 years in notifying me that such an outstanding exists

    Reference given was RCL/conci-dec-10/hyd/lot-ii/419
    account number 5036748345
    mdn 9391393952

I would appreciate if someone can help us and give us proper contact details who we can speak to in Reliance for this matter.

I have my doubts regarding the authenticity of this call.

    Best regards
    Srinivas
