Angry Airtel asking for payment even after cancelling the connection

This is regarding my ex-telephone number 9972530327. This number was used by my wife. She had to go to her parent's for a couple of months. For this reason, I requested Airtel to put the connection in safe custody for 5 months. For this, they asked me to pay Rs. 100 per month = taxes (which came to Rs 555.00). I paid this amount at an Airtel outlet and got back a receipt (dated 10 January 2009). After a few days I checked for the connection status of the phone. I was still active. following this, I called the Airtel customer service asking why the connection was not de-activated since it was supposed to be in safe custody. they informed me that it is not possible to hold the connection in safe custody for 5 months since the limit was 3 months.

I had them reconsider it since i was not needing the connection for 5 months. They refused to do so. So I decided to cancel the connection. I went to the same Airtel outlet and requested them to cancel the connection. They put in a service request and said that it would get deactivated in a day or two. At this point of time, I was supposed to get a refund from Airtel of around Rs 140. (this was after they adjusted the Rs. 555 with an outstanding bill amount).

Since that day i have neither received my refund nor have they disconnected the phone connection. It has been past one year for this episode. During this entire period I had initially followed up with the Airtel customer service on the status of the phone connection.

Now, on 06/04/2010, I received a notice from District Legal Services Authority asking me to appear in he Civil court for this dispute. I am supposed to appear tomorrow (28-April-2010). I know that it is a short notice, but can anything be done about it?

A follow up on the progress:
I had been to the Civil Court on 28th April 2010. I spoke to the judge present there. He asked me whether I wanted to do the settlement where I would have to pay the outstanding amount as per Airtel. Airtel was willing to give a 25% discount on the amount. I refused to do so and inquired what the next step would be. The judge suggested that I speak to a lawyer and see what my options are.

I even spoke to the Airtel representative present and asked him what further steps they would take. He said that they would file a formal case against me.

What I want to do is to drag Airtel to court. Anybody has any suggestion or knows the procedure to do so?
