Default Airtel Mobile bill is inflated!!!!

    Hi,

I sent an email to Airtel Customer Care on 31st January 2010 to disconnect my post-paid mobile connection. They replied me on 31st January2010 itself and replied me that till 30th January 2010 my billed amount is Rs. 5530.82.

After that they disconnected my connection on 4th of February, 2010 saying that my total billed amount is Rs.6522.70. I asked Airtel customer service in this regard and they replied me that the additional amount is related to usage, charges and NOT related rentals.

Truly I still wonder that though I switched off my mobile phone from 15th January 2010 then how come it increases by almost Rs.1000 within 4 days!!!!

I even sent email to their customer service again saying that my mobile was switched off since 15th January 2010 then how the usage charges come into picture from 31st January 2010 to 4th February 2010!

They replied that there was a invoice on 15th January 2010 which they have added!!!

Now I wonder how did they write on 31st of January 2010 that till 30th January 2010 my billed amount was Rs. 5530.82.

Currently I am abroad so, please let me know how can I get the help to sort out this issue!

My emails interactions with them is as follows:

    Hi

I would like to bring this to your kind attention that I Arijit Sarkar was a consumer of Airtel Mobile post-paid service.

At this moment I am abroad so I requested via email to disconnect my mobile post-paid service on 31st January 2010 mentioning at earliest (please see this mail chain). I don t know why but your company kept the connection active (as per your email) till 4th of February!

Interestingly on 31st January your customer representative replied me that till 30th January my billed amount was Rs 5530.82 ( Please be informed that there is no bill amount in your account and the unbilled amount is Rs.5530.82 till 30 01 2010 ). My mobile phone was switched off from much before 31st January and even then your customer service sent a bill to my home claiming that billed amount is Rs. 6522.70!!

Now my questions are as follows:

    1. Though I switched off my mobile much before 31st January then how did it become Rs. 5530.82 to Rs.6522.70
    2. I requested to adjust my security deposit amount Rs.6000 which I paid to subscribe international roaming. Being not in India and a genuine customer of Airtel (please check my billing history which will show that I never delayed any payment) I think I can expect this minimum courtesy! But still your customer service agent is asking us to pay the full amount. May I know the reason please

This is for your kind information and necessary action.

    Thanks
    Arijit
