    Default Airtel inflated charges and unprofessional behavior



    I received a bill of 768.63 dated 22 june and the due date was 10 jul. Today morning I found that my outgoing has been blocked. I made the payment immediately and called up customer service. I was told that my unbilled amount is over Rs 5000 due to high internet usage. This is absurd as I do not browse from my phone and I couldn't possibly have browsed data worth Rs 5000 in the last 6 days given the abysmal speeds of Airtel GPRS. So I asked the customer care representative if I can get details of when and how, according to them, I have incurred these data usage charges. I request a bill which contains this information. He says the bill cannot be generated until 20th of July. I ask him how else I can validate their claim that I have to pay Rs 5000, and whether it is reasonable to expect me to manage for 20 days without outgoing facility to be able to receive proof of having incurred Rs 5000. The gentleman quite calmly informs me that the only way to activate it before July 20th would be to pay Rs 5000. I request to be transferred to his manager, in the hope of being to talk to someone more reasonable. He says this would not be possible as his manager is busy. I ask to transferred any one else, who I can talk to. I am informed that everyone is busy. The best he can do is schedule a return call, which we know from experience will take its own sweet time. I hope somebody takes notice of this, and do the minimum expected from a professional organization, which is extending the courtesy of providing material evidence while making exhorbitant claims.
