Over 1,000 dentists from across the country are expected to gather here for a two-day dental congress beginning Saturday that will discuss the use of new technologies in the field.

Christened "Delhi Dental Update-2005", the congress will feature experts from Germany and Israel who will discuss the future of dentistry and showcase latest techniques for preventing various diseases, said an Indian Dental Association statement.

J.K. Dogra, secretary of the south Delhi dental association, the organiser of the congress, said: "With experts from India and abroad, the congress will be a platform to know new technologies and practices in the field. Along with the doctors, students of this stream will be benefited immensely from the interaction."

There will be a special session on "Tobacco Cessation - Challenges In The Indian Scenario" that will focus on strategies that can be implemented through government agencies, NGOs and dental professionals to save society from the ill effects of tobacco.
