Prime Minister Manmohan Singh underwent what his aides termed as a "minor surgical procedure" on his right hand here Thursday and has since resumed work from his official residence.

"The operation was performed at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences to relieve pressure on a nerve near the prime minister's right wrist," said Sanjaya Baru, media advisor to the prime minister.

"The operation was conducted successfully. While the right hand will remain bandaged for a few days, the prime minister will be working normally," Baru told.
