Kerala's famous ayurveda therapy is drawing crowds in Bihar, with hundreds turning up at a health centre here.

According to the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC), over 200 people have come to its ayurveda centre even before its unveiling Friday. They asked the experts from Kerala about the cure for various ailments.

"If the response to the Kerala ayurveda therapy is anything to go by, it has a big market in Bihar. People are eager to try it out as it's affordable," BSTDC managing director Anand Kishor told.

The therapy is part of the BSTDC's health rejuvenation package to attract domestic and foreign tourists.

BSTDC ayurveda therapy centres are to start in the state's Buddhist pilgrimage centres of Rajgir in Nalanda district and Bodh Gaya in Gaya district this month.

Bodh Gaya, about 180 km from here, is famous as the birthplace of Buddhism. Rajgir, about 100 km from here, is known for its sculptures and Buddhist ruins.

"The therapy is aimed at international and domestic visitors, but the response from Patna's residents has been unbelievable," Kishor said.

To run the centres, BSTDC has signed a contract with a Kerala-based private company - Healing Veda Health Solutions.
