A Nepalese teacher claims to have come up with an herbal cure for AIDS.

Murali Raman Poudel, who lives in southern Nepal and is an English teacher by profession, says he has created a potion with millet, wheat, barley and 262 herbs that can cure the disease, the Himalayan Times reported Sunday.

At a press conference Saturday, the 64-year-old said he had been researching a herbal cure for AIDS for 13 years.

He said he had collected his herbs from the forests in Chitwan, Nawalparasi, Gorkha, Lamjung and Tanahun. The report did not say if Poudel had cured anyone.

Last year, there were several claims in Nepal of herbal cures for AIDS.

However, all of them turned out to be fraudulent, netting police action. In one case, people presented as AIDS-patients-who-had-been-cured later confessed they were part of the gang.
