My son is 4 yrs old and on Saturday 3rd oct 09 morning he fall at home while playing. At that time his left most finger of the right leg was injured and he was not ready to walk as it was paining. I waited till the evening and by the time I applied some homemade remedies like turmeric paste on it. But it was of no use. Hence, I took him to the nereby orthopedic hospital, where the doctor has given him medicine and told that if pain remains for 3 days then take a X-ray. As my son was very irritated by the time and crying continuously because of pain, I asked the doctor that can we take x-ray immediately and then take the decision about what to do. He has given me the slip for urgent X-ray for the nearby X-ray clinic, which was printed by that clinic. I took him there and taken the X-ray. After X-ray I asked the person over there, if there is any problem, he answered me that, there is no problem but you ask your doctor. When I got report in my hand, it was written that there is a fracture in his finger.
I took the X-ray to the doctor and he suggested to put the plaster. He has given the option of POP (of Rs. 1200/-)or Fiber (of Rs. 2500/-) . As I was alone and not carrying too much money I selected POP plaster. Doctor has put the POP plaster on his leg.
We were not allowing my son to walk. Even for toilet we used to give him the pot. But still within the 3 days the powder of plaster was started falling. The plaster was not supporting his leg. Hence on the 4th day we again went to the doctor and showed him the same. Doctor told us that because your son is walking, plaster has become loose. We told him that it is not so. He then suggested us to go for the fiber plaster with cost rs. 2500/-.
As I was not satisfied with the doctors answer, I took my child to his regular Childern’s Hospital where doctor was surprised to see his plaster and he has removed the same with hand, which actually required to be cut using Hexo blade. He saw his leg and told that there is a swelling and he don’t think that there is fracture. So he suggested to take X-ray again and then decide further.
Next day we took another X-ray from another place. And it was surprising that the report was normal. No Fracture No Dislocation.
Now our doctor has give paracetomol and brufen medicines and suggested to take the rest for some days as there is swelling in the finger.
Due to wrong report my son as well as we parents suffered. I want to take some action against the ortho. Doctor as well as the pathology lab as I think the report was given wrong on mutual consent of the both.
Please suggest what to do.
