Dear Sir / Madam,

My name is Joseph Jobdasan and this is regarding the medical insurance for our parents from Royal Sundaram. My mother Mrs. M. Susmitha Job was admitted to Lok Hospital, Thane on 22/12/08 due to acute appendicitis and she was operated on the same day. She was discharged on 25/12/08. I had to pay the entire amount Rs.35,747 via my credit card. Fearing any mishap via courier, I personally hand delivered all the documents to Royal Sundaram office in Hiranandani, Powai on 5/1/09. All the required documents (originals) were verified as per requirement for claim by Mr. Vishwas. He stated that I will get the claim in 13 days (apparently the document and the website states 10 working days from the date of receipt to receive the claim) . I have the photocopies of all those documents along with his signature and the date of receipt.

Since no one got back to me, I called Royal Sundaram on 18003458899 ( a toll free number!!!). They have their customer service centre in Chennai!!! After calling so many times, I got through to Harish on 27/1/09. He stated that it takes 17 working days to get the claim. He also stated that he has mailed the Claims dept and Padmapriya will get back to me. No one did!!! So I called the Claims dept directly on 044-28517388 / 89 / 90. After umpteen attempts I got through to Lavanya who said that the claim has been approved but the amount needs to be verified. So she promised a callback. From 27/1/09 till 5/2/09 no one called me. I have been calling on all these expensive numbers from my mobile phone only to get a promise of a callback. The cust serv reps have been extremely helpless and useless as none of them are on same page w.r.t. theire products. & whenever I called them they kept asking me to call different numbers for Claims dept. I have spoken to Harish, Lavanya, Nithya, Vinod, Sharda and Ananta (the Floor Supervisor) so far. After threatening them about the consumer court, I finally got a call from them today. But no surprise, the amount approved is just Rs.11427!!! Inspite of sending all the bills and receipts that too.

Due to the slack in their actions, I had to do a balance transfer from a different credit card & due to my billing cycle colliding, its all in a mess & I'm already in severe loss. As I had to covert the entire amount into EMI's and I'm paying interest unnecessarily. I work night shifts & still I did everything that I could from my end. This has become such a big headache, I have to call these people everyday in afternoon. My health is affected due to lack of sleep & finally my work too.

I have all the original policy document and also the list of calls I have made to Royal sundaram. Please suggest what & how can I drag them to consumer's court? the Medical policy number is HJ00007813
