    Default Star Health & Allied Insurance

    I had covered my grandson with mediclaim with Star Health insurance for 1 lakh. Recently, doctor asked us to get some tests done at a hospital in Gurgaon. After 4 days of harassment and speaking to customer care repeatedly, they allowed the authorization of Rs 4000.

    How bad is that. 4k out of 1 lakh of claim that i shud have got.. The customer care is not curtious at all, talking in really blunt manner. Moreover, I think, in india, the purpose of insurance is lost and noone understands the actual reason for insurance. It is never there whenevr required, the i dont know y are we paying installments every year. Its all going against the concept of insurance.

    I am really disturbed. These people at the customer care and their people in office dont even have the curtosy to talk to a 56 year old man properly. They are so unfriendly.

    I just need my grandson to go thru these tests asap. and how do i tell them, the room for a hospital room for a night costs Rs 2000 and they have allowed a total money of Rs 4000. No one in the company is cooperating, this site is my last resort.

    Do not wait for pre authorization etc. Get the treatment done quickly. Pay cash bills first to the hospital. Produce the bills before the company ( keep a copy). All correspondances through regd. a/d. If the insurance company doesnt cough up, fight with it. Generally they pay. If they pay less file consumer complaint at district forum. Approach a good lawyer.
