Dear Sir/Madam,
I have had a mediclaim policy with Oriental Insurance for the last few years. I had made a claim against my policy No : 121200/48/09/8696 for the treatment of my Mother-in-law for CA Lung cancer. She has an insurance cover of Rs 1,25,000. The first claim of Rs 97,731 was received by us on 02-09-09. For the subsequent claim, we received a cheque of Rs 47,959 on 02-11-2009. However, since her limit was only Rs 1,25,000, I notified Raksha TPA about the excess amount , instead of going ahead and depositing the cheque. After sending back the cheque along with a covering letter and the claim details document, i expected that the rectified cheque of Rs 27,269 would be promptly despatched. However, I received no communication from them. Each time i try to contact their number, it just keeps on ringing. Whenever i have managed to get anybody on the line and tell my problem, the line conveniently gets disconnected.
After repeated mails to Raksha TPA , somebody calls me up and says that they are unable to find the cheque. I told them that i was not responsible for their inability to find the cheque. Now, i am being penalised for being an honest citizen and returning the cheque for Rs 47,959. Considering that this was for expenses incurred in aug'09, i have waited for more than 5 months and i am still waiting for the rectified cheque

Pls guide on the procedure to take action against Raksha TPA.

Hello,
As you mentioned that you have send back the cheque, have you checked the delivery status, if it is delivered then send a written notice to the MD/Manager of Raksha TPA, mention all the details in it, and ask them to refund as early as possible else you will drag them to the consumer forum.
Hop this may help you at initial stage.
All the best.
Thanks for the prompt response. I have been corresponding with Raksha TPA for a long time and am attaching the corespondence below. I had couriered the cheque through Vichare couriers on 10th Nov'09 and the receipt number was 353021. I had given these details to a Raksha representative on the phone also and she told she would get back to me.

Dear Sir/Madam,
I have to remind you once again to despatch the rectified cheque. For details , pls refer to my previous communication with you (see below). On 18th Dec'09, one of you people called me up and told that you are not able to locate the returned cheque. I want to mention it once again that i am not responsible for your inability to locate the cheque. I was suposed to hear from you people the very next day and i am still waiting for a response.
I still do not have the contact number of any single person to whom i can speak about the same. I am thoroughly frustrated with your service and am seriously considering taking up the matter with the consumer court. Its been 5 months since i posted the claim and i am yet to recieve the cheque. I guess being an honest citizen gets you penalized this way.
Hoping for a prompt response from your end.
Regards,
Parvati Krishnakumar

hi,
Just ny luck, i managed to get one of your executives on the line and as usual, as soon as i mentioned the reason for calling, the line got conveniently disconnected. If you cannot service customers, why provide a number only? And since you are so difficult to contact, please contact me at 9819556313 / 25604784 as soon as possible. I hope you will not add further to my frustration.
regards,
Parvati Krishnakumar

DEAR SIR,
I have already returned the cheque back to you along with a covering letter on 10th Nov'09 through vichare courier. I sent you the mail because i have not yet received the rectified cheque. And now, when i am totally frustrated with your service, you ask me for an acknowledgement copy. What kind of acknowledgement do you want? Anyways, am attaching the letter that i sent alongwith the cheque.
And please do me a favour. Give me the contact number of some person to whom i can speak about the same. Please respond as soon as possible to this mail.
regards,
Parvati Krishnakumar

Dear Sir/Madam,
I have communicated with you before also on the payment status of claim number 556291077211. Forget recieving payment, you have not even bothered to reply to my mail. Your numbers are also conveniently unavailable. I think i did the wrong thing by returning the cheque for Rs 47,959. I should have just deposited the same in the bank and enjoyed the amount. Here, i am being penalised for your errors. Please respond to this mail at the earliest.
regards,
Parvati

Dear Sir/Madam,
I have received a settlement cheque of Rs 47,959 for my claim against the mediclaim policy purchased from "The Oriental Insurance Co. Ltd". However, I would like to bring to your notice the fact that the limit for Vishalakshi G ( the patient in this case) is just Rs 1.25 lacs. We have previously received Rs 97,731 as claim settlement on 2nd Sep'09. As a result, we should have received an amount of Rs 27,269 only against our claim. In case, the Rs 47,959 has been paid as settlement under a blanket cover ( collectively we have an insurance limit of Rs 4.75 lacs), please inform us of the same.
Please respond as soon as poosible to this mail as regards the further course of action that i should take. I will wait till 6th Nov'09 and if i do not receive any intimation from you, will go ahead and deposit the claim cheque of Rs 47,959. Please look into the matter as soon as possible and in case, you will send another cheque for the revised amount, please do so at the earliest. Either ways, please inform me of the action that i am supposed to take.
Regards,
Parvati Krishnakumar

RAKSHA TPA has no basic sense of customer service at all. They dont bother to reply to your complaints, when you ask for the details of their senoirs they avoid. Their relationship managers dont have the knowledge and bandwidth to manage relationships.Even their website doesnt have a proper escallation matrix.
My company used their services for one year and discontinues. we had more than 1500 employees insured through them.
