    Default Mediclaim policy of new india assurance co .ltd

    I am insuered by mediclaim policy since last 12 yrs. For 3 lac rs, without a break or claim. My first claim was in sep 2011 for my cataract surgery for rs. 64000. I had sent allthe documents in original along with the lence implanted. But my claim was settled only for rs. 24000.

    Default Revival of lapsed medi claim policy.

    I am aged 61 years. I have taken a mediclaim polict in 2009 from New India Insurance co.Every year thereafter I have renewed it correctly.This time2013 I was due to pay the renewal of my medic claim policy on 23rd March 2013. But I have forgotten to renew it. Today when I went to the agent he says it has lapsed and I cannot renew it any more. My point is that I am delayed by 45 days but I am back datedbut I am ready to renew thereby losing 45 days of benefit period. Is there any method to revive the policy?

    He further says that since I have completed 60 years I am not eligible for any mediclaim policy. IS he correct?

    Is it not part of the duty of Insurance company to intimate me before the expiry date? New India has not send me any such reminder.
