Default Prepayment charged by HDFC(after NHB notification)

    Dear Sir,

I had a home loan from HDFC Ltd. (File Number - 600035855) which I foreclosed as I had to sell the property.

The loan was taken over by the buyer. Letter of Outstanding issued on 19th Oct 2011 and the foreclosure was to be authorized by 20/10/2011.

National Housing Bank issued a notification (with immediate effect) on 19th Oct 2011 and it was published by all newspapers on 20/10/2011. Still, HDFC Ltd. levied a prepayment penalty of Rs. 28958 (Rupees Twenty Eight Thousand Nine Hundred and Fifty Eight Only). While calculating the penalty HDFC Ltd. also included the part prepayment that I had done previously in the financial year through my own savings.

Since the notification was issued with immediate effect, I should legally be spared from any such charges. And since the charges have already been levied, they should be reimbursed to me.

Hoping for directions from you on how to get the prepayment charges reimbursed.

    Thanks and Regards,
    Gaurav garg

why HDFC is not decreasing interest rates inspite of decreasing rates by RBI by 0.5%

At the time of increasing the rates, whenever RBI increases the rates, next day HDFC increased the rates. But why not this time. why they are not reducing the rates now.

Yes, for new buyers, be aware, HDFC doesnt reduce rates even after months of RBI reducing rates by 0.5% recently.
    Not even by 0.25%.
They are the first to increase the rate but are the last when it comes to reducing it on time.
Don't go by the facts that its one of the oldest bank, I guess someone should collect data for different bank rates on their correlation with RBI rates.
