Same overheating problem. Nvidia GPU fails all the time and get blue screen of death or restarts. Very mad, paid for $1500, used for more than a year and this happened. Need solutions NOWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!

I have a hp laptop. the dv2500. It will work sometimes and not others. I turn it on and it shuts off on its own and will not let me turn it on again. I took it in to have it serviced and they told me that they thought there was a recall on these due to overheating. It's not even 2 years old!!! I believe hp should do something about this. I have seen a lot of other people having the same problem.

I have the same issue for the model HP pavilion dv2601TX laptop.
I took it to the HP Laptop service center but they asked to replace a motherboard which cost too much. Many people are facing the same problem. Its a inbuilt defect by the company. I registered a complaint to HP but no reply this is disgusting and HP should refund us. The cost of the Laptop is very much. If anybody got the reply from HP pls let us know my id is poonamtpatil@gmail.com

As you mentioned that you have already registered your complaint with the HP Service Center but still not get any response, so we suggest you to send a written notice to the CMD of HP via email or registered post, mention all the details in it and ask them for the refund with in the mentioned time in the notice, wait for their response and revert us back.
Note: Keep all the copy of Complaint, Notice and the registered post slip, this may help you if you need to knock the consumer forum.

Have the Pavilion dv2500 laptop bought in Mumbai in 20007. Facing the same problem as you guys facing. Have also complained to "HP Escalation Team" which is suppose to escalate the matter quickly. I have written them an email regarding their defective design. Waiting for their reply.

Hi, I have the same problem as most of guys using HP 2601 tx special edition laptop. before some months, sometimes at the time of starting screen appeared blank. Now this problem become frequent and from last some days my lap never strated. I checked it from many local care centers but everybody failed to diagnose it and fix it. I got various answers like LCD , Ribbon cable, operating system. I changed my o.s. from vista to win7 but problem persist. Please help me on this issue.....

I am experiencing a lot of the same problems as stated. When the computer is turned on 6 screens come up. Have changed the c drive and battery and run a memory check which said OK. I was able to get it to come up for a couple of days after changing the c drive last week but now all I get are 6 screens. I, like most of you have an expired warranty and HP wants $300+ to fix it. What is the lawsuit mentioned below? I tried to google it but got nothing.

I have the same problem of excessive heating with my hp dv2601tx spl edition. In the last 2.5 yrs, it has been in the service centre 15-16 times but to no respite. They have changed every part of the laptop but it has had no effect on the problem.
Is it possible to file a case for refund.
