the warranty of my HCL Leaptop is expired in feb.2009. and now i'm having its Comprehensive AMC for 1 year starting from July 2009 for Rs. 6618.
After that my Laptop's Motherboard PCB Burn n so it works on batteries only.
now the HCL people say that i need 2 pay for the Motherboard.
plz. suggest me is it appropriate?
isn't it their duty to change the motherboard without charging anything from me?
I'm sending 1 attachement file which specifies about the Terms & Conditions of the AMC, which i can't properly understand. So, plz suggest me, whether i should file complain against them.

I'm having one HCL Leaptop - LX INDIFINITI POWERLITE 9200GM
Serial No. : 1083A1290847
Its warranty has been expired in Feb.2009. Then I used it for 3-4 months without warranty as i was not aware of extending its warranty.
Then I thought that I should extend its warranty. so I applied for extension of its warranty but they did it as COMPREHENSIVE AMC for 1 year by saying that they have upgraded its warranty for Rs. 6618 with 10.3% tax.
You please view the "AMC.TXT" file attached with the previous thread for the Terms & Conditions of the AMC.
They clearly specify that it include comprehensive AMC for all H/Ws and OS.
Now, after upgrading to COMPREHENSIVE AMC for 1 year, a charging pcb, which is directly connected to motherboard, had burnt becoz of very low quality motherboard. so i can't charge the battery and i can use my laptop on batteries by exchanging with the other battery of my friend.
So, i contacted to HCL authorities and explained my problem 2 them.
They say that u need 2 change the motherboard and also that i've 2 pay for the motherboard which costs Rs. 12,500.
Then after a series of contacts they said that as the PCB of Motherboard is burnt and also they can't repair its PCB it doesn't come under warranty. And if it had not burnt then they would have replaced the motherboard without any cost.
they say that if any other devices like HDD, RAM, CD Drive were not working then they would have replaced it or repaird it.
Now they say that they can do some deduction in price of m/b. and that now they will charge only Rs. 7,500 instead of Rs. 12,500 for the new motherboard.
I don't understand, is the life of a motherboard one year only?
Generally warranty of a motherboard is 3 years..
As I've already upgraded its AMC, isn't that their duty to replace it without charging anything from me?
If it's not like that then what is the need of AMC. If i pay Rs. 7500 more then the AMC for 1 year costs me Rs. 15,000 nearly. Better i would have bought a new laptop instead of that.
So, this is my problem.
but it's not my problem only. There are atleast 50 of my friends who are facing the same problem with their HCL leaptop's burnt PCB of m/b as they have also the same type of leaptops. but the difference is that they have not upgraded their warranty & i did.
So, suggest me what should I do?
Should I pay them the amount for m/b? or should i complain against them?

Dear Sir,
Before paying for the services, pls. send a complaint letter to the Head Office of the HCL Co. Keep a copy of that written complaint and wait for the response for maximum 15 days. In the mean time pls. verify the condition of mother board from another authorised service centre.

I am having a Problem related HCL laptop service.
I bought a HCl Laptop on 25/07/2008 with two year warranty, Now I am facing a
problem in charging I have got it serviced 4 times at Agra service center, Gurgaon
Service center and two times at New delhi(Green Park0 service center but still I am
facing a same problem. It takes 6-7 hour for charging.
Main thing is that when I go to New delhi (Green Park)service center they take my
laptop an call me after 2 or three days that you can collect your laptop and when I
receive my laptop I have to sign there because charging problem I can not chek there
because it takes minimum 2 hours (If it is serviced properly)

As u said i had sent e-mails to the General Manager of HCL and also at HCL Head Office Delhi after yr advise. Then the HCL bangalore talked 2 me on my cell phone and told about the condition of my laptop and also about the terms & conditions of Comprehensive AMC for my laptop. They say that the charging PCB of motherboard is burnt bcoz of some reason and so motherboard doesn't come under warranty/AMC. for yr reference i'm mailing u a copy of the AMC Letter which specifies its terms & conditions. u plz. check that out and tell me whether they can charge me anything from me for repairing/replacing motherboard(which is a Hardware) or not.

1. Support Covers Comprehensive AMC for Hardwares and OS on all HCL working days
from 9 AM to 6 PM.
2. This support does not covers LCD panel, power adaptor, battery and damages due to
mishandling, rat discharge and power fluctuation
Dear Sir,
According to Company's Terms and Conditions for warranty, we'll have to pay for the repairs. Now, if according to you the laptop is having such fault then you have to got for the paid services. Pls. inform us soon if you have any other doubts related to the fault with the laptop.
