I own a Compaq Presario V3749AU which is under warranty. I gave it to the local HP service centre - Simtech Computronics P. Ltd. in Pune, India on 18th Dec 2008. Its a month now yet, the service guys have not been able to solve my problem. Everytime I have called, they have not even been able to give a proper reply for my problem. Twice I was told they received the part but it was wrong and hav re-ordered it. One occasion I was told there is a shortage of spares all over the country and the service engineer has mailed the Bangalore office to know the status. Even today (16th Jan '09) when I called I was told the concerned person whom I had spoken to earlier is on leave and the new guy I was directed to knew nothing about my case. And even after supposed 'checking the status' he could not help me. I am yet awaiting a positive response...

Before taking any legal action against them, we have to do some basic formalities.
1) Send a Notice to the parent company and mention all the problems and complaints.

Dear Sir/Madam,
I the undersigned own a Compaq Presario V3749AU notebook PC purchased in the month of April 2008, and is under warranty. I had given my laptop to the HP service centre in Pune – Simtech Computronics Pvt. Ltd. on 18/12/2008 since even on switching the power button “on”, there was neither any display nor any action from the hard disk. But, the ‘power on’ light and the volume keys would glow. I was told to submit my laptop since the system board needed replacement. I was assured that normally it takes 3 working days to procure the parts and my laptop would be returned in one week’s time at the most. Accordingly it is over one month now and I am yet not being given any specific answer from the service personnel as to how long it would take for my laptop to get repaired. Repeated phone calls and personal visits to the service centre have been simply a waste of time for me. Twice I was told that they had received the wrong part and have reordered it. Once I was told that the part has been dispatched from Delhi, but they have yet not received it. On one occasion I was told that there is a nation-wide shortage of spares, and that they have mailed the Bangalore office to know the status of the required part.
They even failed to provide a stand-by laptop when I requested them for one. Finally on the 19th Jan 2009 I was given a stand-by laptop, which is of a lower configuration than mine, and does not serve me the purpose entirely. And even now, there has been no specific reply from their end as to how long it will take to repair my laptop. On the 20th Jan 2009 I was sent a text message on my mobile phone stating that they have still not received the part and the same is expected to arrive by in few days. This again is just a blank reply which does not give any fixed information as to how long it will take.
Probably it seems the service centre guys are not too serious about their work, and hardly realize how badly the image of a company gets tarnished in such events, since it is the after sales service that plays a more important part in making customers loyal. I work as a journalist and have to travel a lot regarding work. Even after repeatedly informing the service personnel about the nature of work they failed to pay heed to the urgency with which I need to have my laptop back.
It is really ridiculous that an authorized service centre can mistreat customers in this manner. With this kind of behaviour the service centre is really spoiling the company’s image in the eyes of customers and doing no good to instill confidence in the company’s products.
In the wake of not getting any specific reply from the service centre, I have registered a complaint with the consumer court and on their suggestion I am writing this written complaint to you. I have also registered a complaint on your website. The complaint number given to me on the website is as follows – CCHSAP188301. I am attaching herewith a copy of the service report given to me by the service centre for your ready reference. But, even the quality of the service report copy given to me is so bad, I could not even make a copy of it, either by scanning it or making a photostat.
I request you to kindly look into the issue since this has become a very serious problem for me and has hampered my work considerably over the past month. Please make arrangements so I can get my laptop back ASAP."
I had also attached a copy of the service report they had given which was a shitty piece of yellow paper, and even the tracing couldn't be seen seen. I'd sent this letter on the 21st January 2009, after which I received a call from the HP guys just for confirmation sake about my complaint, and again were cribbing about shortage of spares and said would get back to me, but no word as yet. I think its time to take some strict action. Hope you guys will help me out.

Firstly apologies for not replying back earlier. To be honest enough, I am utterly disgusted with HP India for their pathetic products and after sales service as well. Last week, I got a call from the service guys saying my laptop has been repaired and I can collect it from them. I promptly went and picked it up, and found it to be running satisfactorily, but only the for the next two days. Two days later again the problem occurred and the laptop refused to boot. I have again given to the service centre and God knows how much time they will take this time. But I am really not interested anymore in getting it repaired, but want a replacement now. Or atleast my money back that I had to spend on the sub-standard product. Here's all the details you had asked for:

This is in regards to my laptop with Serial Number :CNF6Q50WN and
Product Number :Em849pc#ACJ. I am absolutely disgusted with the
purchase of this laptop.To share the history of my issues I have also
gone ahead and attached the copy of my previous mails to Hp.The
current status of my laptop is un fixed. I had given my laptop to the
Okhla Service Center some days back as regards to an issue with the
flickering screen and some issues with the dvd drive. After diagnosis
it turned out to be an issue with the Hard drive and dvd drive and
they were replaced after 11 days. Thus resulting in the lack of work
for an working individual .Further I had to reload all my softwares
back on again.No issues as I thought the issue was taken care
of.However to my utter disgust now I had booting issues with the
Operating System and they said that an engineer would visit my place.
The engineer visited me last Sat and took out all the components of my
laptop and reput everything back on again and seemingly it was working
for at that time. But as soon as he left the problem resurfaced again
and now it was the Flickering screen issue once again.My warranty on
this laptop holds out in the month of May. I think why the hell I
purchased this laptop as the fan has been refixed , the hdd is
replaced , the dvd is replaced., why the hell I dont get a new
laptop.I am so disgusted with this laptop I want some help or
compensation else I think I should file a case against Hp in Consumer
Court for this laptop.

This with utmost regret that I am writing this email .I bought a Hp Laptop Presario V2000 Series with Sn as cnf6050wvn and the product number as em849pc#acj.It hasnt been even 6 months that I bought this laptop that I have already been to the service station 6 times in these 6 mths .I am myself working for Hp Bangalore in tech support but I am disgusted with this product and I dont think I am likely to purchase a Hp product ever again .So please help me in anyways possible I am even willing to throw this laptop and get a Dell or a Sony and this is me despite working for a company such as Hewlett Packard .Its such a disgrace that company of this repute is making such bad products .I am also sending a mail from my official mail id which would confirm that I am working for Hp..So hopping to hear from you soon
