Hi,

My name is Jaison Joy and I had purchased HP Pavilion dv2750ea Entertainment Notebook PC having Serial No: 2CE8120DG2 from London, United Kingdom on 15th June 2008 with warranty of 1 Year. The warranty expired on 14th June 2009. The Laptop had been working fine untill Sept of this year i.e. 2010.

Below is the details of the problem faced:

There were multiple screens appearing on the display instead of one screen, and some times the screen even didn’t appear. I reinstalled and updated the NVIDIA drivers (as it has NVIDIA 8400GM) assuming something might be wrong with the drivers. But when the notebook restarted the multiple screens reappeared right from the time the laptop restarted. This time there were six boot screens, instead of one. I logged onto HP website and updated my BIOS, but the problem did not solve. I ran the system restore, but that was also useless. I searched for the problem on the net and found that there is a die-packaging manufacturing defect in NVIDIA GPU of G84 and G86 which was officially announced by NVIDIA. These NVIDIA GPU are in most of dv2000/dv6000 series of HP Pavilion laptops.

After much frustration, I gave the laptop to authorized service centre here in Bangalore. The address of the Service Centre is given below:

Value Point ITS Services Pvt. Ltd.

Events that happened on Sept 1st 2010 to Sept 9th 2010:
I gave the laptop for repair on 1st Sept 2010 and the laptop was returned to me on 9th Sept 2010. They said they have changed the NVIDIA Card as the problem was with the graphics card. They charged me Rs. 6490/- ( i.e 4920/- for the NVIDIA card + Rs. 1200/- service charge + tax)

Events that happened on Sept 14th 2010:
When I came back home, I noticed that touchpad right click was very slow. This made me curious to check the My Computer properties and I noticed that they have replaced my original motherboard with a VERY OLD motherboard. When I went back to Value Point ITS Services, the Service Engineer, Srikanth told me that the motherboard was replaced by MISTAKE. How can a Service Engineer working in an Authorized HP Service Centre make such a stupid silly mistake. He changed the motherboard and returned the laptop.

This time I noticed that the laptop had only 1GB RAM!!! My Laptop had 2GB RAM. When I confronted Srikanth again, he took the laptop again and came back saying the RAM was not fixed properly. This is completely absurd!

Events that happened after a week:
The same multiple screen issue started to happen again. I again went to Value Point ITS Services and gave the laptop. The Service Engineer, told me that the problem is with the CMOS and he said he has fixed it. I came back home and I noticed that the same multiple screen issue happened again.

I also noticed that the 2 USB Ports were not working and that when I checked BIOS. I noticed that the motherboard had a different serial number. My motherboard Serial No: 2CE8120DG2. I again went to Value Point ITS Services and this time he explained that because BIOS software was updated, the Serial Number got changed. At this time, he said he cannot rectify the problem and he will refund the amount Rs. 4920/- (the amount paid for NVIDIA card).

Regarding the USB Port, he said that the power to USB goes via Graphics Card so it is not working! When I argued with him, he fixed it and returned the laptop.

I collected my Laptop on 4th Nov 2010. The issue with multiple screen still exists and he has said he cannot rectify. Only if motherboard is replace the issue could get resolved.

Buying an HP laptop had been a real pain and trusting the laptop in the hands of an AUTHORIZED Service Centre was even more painful. HP is a world recognized brand and I am appalled at the poor service provided by HP. I will think many times before buying an HP Laptop again and I would not even suggest my friends to buy one either.

To be frank I really don't know what all are the original components are there in my Laptop, because the AMAZING service provided by the so called AUTHORIZED Service Centre.

I expect a quick response from HP and provide me with a possible solution. I have suffered a lot mentally, physically and it had been so much waste of time, money and effort with no positive outcome. I hope HP does care about its customers and it will take required action to address my issues. I have attached scanned copies of Delivery challan, Invoice, Good Received along with this email.

Thank You.
Regards,
Jaison Joy
