I purchased an Acer Travelmate 7200 with a 17 inch screen in Jan 2008 and I noticed that the two corners supported by the hindges have cracked. Every time I open the laptop it seems to enlarge the crack and I am certain that it is a matter of time before it detatches from the hindges competely. I have tried calling Acer but they request a credit card number for service concerning hardware but there is no way to get through to customer care. The minute I enter my serial number it tells me that I am out of warranty and they redirect me to the hardware dept. which asks again for a credit card. I would like to know how a laptop 17 months old can fall apart so quickly? is there any possiblity to have this repaired or am i looking at a ride off on this investment? should I send a registered letter to their office and then pursue them in small claims? really need your help
